One quote specifically hit me:
"But the 8-hour workday is too profitable for big business, not because of the amount of work people get done in eight hours (the average office worker gets less than three hours of actual work done in 8 hours) but because it makes for such a purchase-happy public. Keeping free time scarce means people pay a lot more for convenience, gratification, and any other relief they can buy. It keeps them watching television, and its commercials. It keeps them unambitious outside of work"

Yeah its definitely
Yeah its definitely interesting stuff. The main part that scares me is that we're putting in 5 days of hard work--> 2 days of freedom on the weekend. It's like the perfect balance to keep a person with enough amount of fun, but so pre-occupied that they can't entertain the idea of starting all over from scratch
I remember the idea of instead of working 5 days @ 8 hrs/day, you work 4 days @ 10 hrs/day and get the extra day off. Probably would never happen but interesting to think what the consequences would be

Last week I was talking to a family friend and she told me that her job recently switched to 4 10hr days. She just wanted to bitch about how long her days were now and didn't care when I pointed out to her that she gets a 3 day weekend every weekend!

She works a job that she
She works a job that she doesn't like in order to make money for her family and put the kids through college. The real problem isn't the 4 10hr shifts, its that she had hopes and dreams of making it as a singer but never got past the level of open mics at dive bars and the occasional party.
