50 Day Fat Loss Challenge (w/pics every day + updates) inspired by Ethan X
Going to be doing a bit of a log. 50 days to drop as much fat/weight as I can. I have 60 days until I compete again next in Kickboxing. Been quite some time since I've competed and I'm dying to get back in there.
Will be updating every day with a picture and log/overview.
I will have a picture up shortly along with my weight, height, etc. Only thing missing today is body fat percentage, I'll do that tomorrow morning.
Goals:
- End up in the 170-175lbs range
- Maintain most of my strength on compound lifts
- Increase endurance (both muscular and cardiovascular)
- Shredded to the bone --> 6% body fat goal (Haven't been that lean since highschool, grade 11 to be exact)
- One cheat day every 10 days
There ya have it boys, will update after my workout.
Dude 6% bf is not a realistic number unless you have time to bulk up after that. You will look like a auschwitz patient, not ideal for combat sports. Where are you now bf % wise?
Right on brother! Let's do this.
aim for 9-10%. Most people think that 10% is fat, it's not, its lean as fuck compared to the average person.
I had 6% in high school wrestling. College wrestling I didn't give a fuck but I was lean for other reasons. Grappler you can tone down that tum tum and start taking selfies. Wut wut
I think it totally comes down to discipline for the low body fat percentages, they've never hindered my results and I have a few friends who are pro athletes with extremely low body fat, yet there performances are fine. I mean, I'll stay on course and what not, I think it shouldn't be thaaat long until I get there. All the training is only going to help the case. I will be implementing intermittent fasting like I have in the past, worked wonders for me. Along with maybe a fat burner, once I get down a couple of pounds, I don't see the point in using something right out of the gate, I think it defeats the purpose of it.
Diet will consist of low carbs, high protein and somewhat high fats. The carbs I'll be having will be coming from veggies mostly. High protein will be coming from mostly fish(sole, cod, talapia tuna), eggs, chicken, beef and the occaisional kangaroo(honestly, my favorite). The fats will be nuts, oils (olive and coconut), avocado, some cheeses (I don't eat much of this, makes me sick).
I'll be working out 6 days a week with weights, not extremely heavy, I have a pretty good program I made not too long ago. It alternates heavy days with endurance based days or "light" days. Cardio..I'm not the biggest fan but I'll make an effort to do at least 20 minutes a day and I'll make adjustments based on the results I'm seeing or not seeing. Training I will be doing 4 times a week and it'll be most likely kickboxing. I been taking a break from grappling to focus on my weaker areas.
I'll have a picture every day also along with updated stats. I'm off to start my day now though, so I will update you guys later on with todays workout + what I ate for the most part + pics and stats
Day 2
Weight - 198 lbs
Height - 6'0"
Body Fat - Haven't had the chance to check today (couldn't find calipers, might end up doing a water tank at a training facility instead at the end of the month)
Basically my diet was on point today. The workout I did was Triceps and Chest. I incorporated some cardio at the end for about 20 minutes. The cardio wasn't super intense, uphill and at a decent pace.
Compound Lifts - Bench Press - 225lbs at 12 reps for 4 sets (I'm going to play around with my strength for this and work it into a more strength based amount of reps, instead of such high reps)
I'll include the endurance aspect soon too (I.E. how many push-ups until failure)
I also grabbed some more isolate protein, multivitamin, caffeine pills, bcaa's (have never really used these, but have heard great things) and some creatine.
I figure the caffeine pills would help keep my energy up since I'm not getting to many carbs or anything like that for energy, plus it works as a bit of a diuretic so it'll help flush some water weight off quickly for me. I do feel a little bloated.
Will update again tomorrow. I'll also include any positives and negatives that I'm experiencing.
.
Bro to be honest if you're going to do weights six days a week and low carb it entirely...that is not realistic.
You have to throw in some starch in there so you won't be going through the motions of working out. You will also be going through every day feeling lethargic and fatigued.
I suggest you try out intermittent fasting. It'll help balance your hormones, enzymes, and let alone gi tract. It is much more sustainable in a busy lifestyle and you'll get through this much happier with the adjustment.
Hey man,
Yeah I thought about that today, I'm considering dropping it down to 5 days of lifting a week but keeping everything else the same. I'll see how this week goes. For carbs, I've decided to have some oats, though a very small amount. I'm strapped for time until the tournament so I'm going to push the limits with this. Usually I'll give myself 3-4 months, but I only have about 1-2 months to work with. I am some-what out of shape too, in terms of body composition.
I am also doing IF. I have today and it was a breeze, the water kept me satiated or well what seemed to be satiated. Also the oats were alright. I had turkey, sole (fish), some healthy fat dressing I made myself at home and a huge salad. So far, so good. The portions were measured out to fit my caloric needs and I gotta be honest I'm pretty stuffed.
Oh I forgot to add, my "cheat" day every 10 days, will be a carb refeed, as opposed to an actual cheat day with shitty foods. I'll take the low fat, moderate protein, high carb approach to this day. So it won't exactly be low carb each and every day. I'm thinking every 10-13 days is plenty to carb up on. As I get leaner, I might need to refeed more often, but again, I'll play it by ear.
Bateman has me eating potatoes every day. MASSIVE help
@Manwhore
Sweet potato? Or just regular white potato?
I'm thinking of incorporating starch now as opposed to the oats.. It might make the dinner even more filling.
Russet and yellow. I cut them into slices and bake them at 400 for 25 min.
I need to incorporate potatos as well. I never have but I've heard great things from various people.
Just started drinking green and black tea. Very clean energy, much better than coffee.

Potatoes are a massive help with maitaining mass, while losing fat.
They are perfect to have after a long workout. To spike your insulin. This way that glucose will shoot straight to the muscles.
If you were to have something with carbs are a fibrous exterior such as "oats" you will prolong the insulin release, thus having that glucose be converted into fatty acids, then fat itself.
I never thought about it that way, I was going for the most filling type of food I could have and usually oats is what does the trick in that specific area. I'll throw on some potato today and get too it.
I'm about to start my day, though its already lunch time.... I just had a bit of a late night. I'll go about my daily routine and post up a picture later as to how I'm looking today. Might be overkill with the daily pictures but I figure I might as well throw it in there to see daily changes.
I'll also head out and pick up some potatos and cut out the oats. Are sweet potatoes a no-go? Those are so good. I don't mind russet, white or anyhting like that but just a preference in taste for me.
i like sweet or russet, goes either way. You could even do white rice, but i prefer the potatoes because they have vitamins and minerals. Whereas the white rice literally is just plain carbohydrate with no other benefit.
I will probably go with the sweet potato to be honest, I can make it a dessert like thing with a few spices, etc. Those cooking classes have been coming in extremely handy for this cut. Makes dieting so much easier.
Day 3
Weight - 197.5
Height - 6'0"
Body Fat - Haven't done the tank yet, will either at the end of this month or the beginning of next month if I don't find the calipers (Guess - 13-15%)
Workout - Shoulders
Compound Lift - Military Press - 135lbs - 4 reps - 5 sets
Cardio - Was strapped for time, didn't get the opportunity
Training - None today
Didn't get a chance to take it in the same washroom, lighting is a little off.. Haha I will have better lighting tomorrow...
Tomorrow should be a killer workout. Will be training Back in the morning, then to Boxing class and then some cardio!
Will update tomorrow once again boys.
Not really seeing results yet but what can you honestly expect on day 3, I figure I'll start noticed stuff about 12 days in...
lol are you expecting any changes in height, too?
anyways, keep going, I'm on this :D
Any 24 hr fitness will have calipers. Where you working out at?
Haha no, I just always include it because of the calorie equations online that require it.
I usually work out at my home gym, I have a full set up (squat rack, barbells, bench, dumbbells, pull-up bars, cardio machines, boxing bags, etc.), but I just signed up at the YMCA, so I'll see if I can get the body fat done there.
I didn't get to update you guys yesterday, I had a crazy busy day. I ended up doing my workout which was arms instead of back since I was strapped for time. I will be doing back today. I also went to boxing. Then I got challenged for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge so I did that. I also had some job stuff I had to sort through since I ran into some unexpected problems. I'll have an update ready for you guys today after I hit up my back workout tonight and what not. Will be doing some grappling tonight also. If I'm not too dead I'll go out tonight, but I went out last night and I have sort of noticed a few things I'm going to make another thread about.
I'll update later today boys
Sorry fellas, been crazy busy at work. I haven't had a chance to update yet but will tomorrow
I will actually have an update tomorrow sorry guys haha, been swamped with work, job interviews, going away parties (friends leaving for college) and my own school shit.
I have been working out still and dieting so I will be able to update, still haven't had a cheat day but I will on saturday since I'll be hitting up the fair with the friends before the summer ends.
Day 10
Alright, a little overdue I know, I just have been extremely busy.
Weight: 196
Height: 6'0"
Bodyfat: Still haven't been to the tank yet. Will ask at the gym if they have calipers until then.
Noticing a bit of improvements here. I will have to make some adjustments, I'm not losing as much as I'd like. Also, I know that I can dial the diet in a little more and make quicker changes. I haven't been doing much cardio so that'll also change for the following week. I have noticed a lot of fat loss/water loss in my face. I usually have a puffy/fat face when my body fat is out of whack and it's starting to slim down nicely which is perfect for me. I'm going to stick with it.
I'll update again tomorrow but I think I'll move the pics to every 3-5 days to show more progress. I figure every day is excessive and the changes aren't really drastic so lol....
Will update soon.
One thing that's really bugging me is the love handles. Can't stand them. Hoping to shred those off by the end of this. They poke out if the shirts I wear are fitted (t-shirts, long sleeves) but button ups are fine. I am aiming for the v-lines which I haven't seen in forever.
It's been a great year for me for development. The nasty break up I went through was probably a blessing in disguise cause I've made drastic life changes that I needed to make. I was getting too comfortable and now I'm starting to be on my shit. I love it. Yeah, some days are shitty and I feel off but for the most part I'm on my path. This is one of the top things on my "to-do" list that I want to cross off. I'm gonna make sure I get it. By any means necessary.
Day 11
Weight - 195
Height - 6'0"
Body Fat - Getting leaner (will update soon, I know...I know)
So I'm noticing some pretty good progress to be honest. The only problem is I'll be at the fair tomorrow so I will be most likely fucking shit up calorie/macro wise for the last time in the month of September. The fair's got the best foods...Wiggle chips, mini donuts, deep fried oreos and mars bars, whale tails, chinese food, fish and chips...jesus the list goes on...but seriously fuck the rides, I'm going for the pussaaay and food LOL
After tomorrow I'll be back on that diet I got. I will be aiming to get to 185 by the end of September, I will only have about 10-12 pounds to lose after that I believe until I reach my 6% goal. Of course that's an estimate, I'll have to judge it by the scale and weigh ins + calipers.
I'll be switching up my workout to a more Strength + Conditioning based workout. The martial arts training will remain the same though. I can't exactly change pre-set classes or anything.
Body has been looking leaner and leaner, helps notice differences without comparing pictures each day. I have been training really hard also, sometimes twice a day so I've adjusted my diet accordingly to that. Will have an update for you guys tomorrow after the gym or beforehand.
Dude why aren't you doing cardio or actually just leading an "active" lifestyle. I got a private boxing coach, take hip hop classes twice a week and do sprints around my block if I need to subsidize my ninja for the week.

Oh ok you are training sometimes twice a day? That's legit you are obviously putting in the sweat and effort. Well dude I got some news for you.. what sort of processed shit are you eating/drinking. Are you drinking energy drinks on the daily? Beer? Breads? I feel with that sort of lifestyle you should have cut down more by now
Come on, man. There's cheat days and then there's going to fair and getting fucking depp fried wasted.
My diet is so clean on the regular that fried or processed shit literally makes my stomach hurt. I immediately regret eating it so it's super easy to cut that stuff out now.
The only thing that really messes with my diet at times is alcohol. Not so much from a caloric stand point, but from a hydration POV.
Yeah man I think the only thing that's been fucking up my results is the beer tastings we have to do at the bar. They get new ones in all the time and they are all heavy/dark stouts for the winter season coming up. I've been slacking a bit in cardio so I know as soon as I do a bit more of that, I'll see much better results. My diet has been changed to low fat, medium-higher carbs and Bodyweight amount of protein. I found it too hard to train so much with such little carbs like I was having before. Finally starting to get some noticeable results though and my face is leaning out really nice, no more almost double chin that I had forming plus a lot less round/puffy looking
Also it's been tough trying to be much more active in terms of cardio things. I been boxing but I think I need to incorporate more than that. Plus I think the calories I'm counting could be a bit off. Strength and conditioning are improving a lot but the aesthetics need to be progressing much more. I feel like I should be much leaner
I'm about to follow you to the 6% body fat but find this fucking caliper man, it's going to be one month and still you don't find it...
I don't know if sitting at 6% in you day to day life is possible for a non ectomorphe. Give me your thought on that.
It's very possible, I've done it before. I have to work a little harder but I can do it.
Sorry ry for the late update but I've been super busy and what not with work, school and training all piled on in one week and I'm getting ready for the Alex Free tour in Van this week. I'm just very overwhelmed lately been so busy I just pass out when I get the chance.
Also I'm doing the water tank body fat test next month instead. I can't get an accurate enough read with calipers it's always a different number.
Being an endo-meso I find it's harder for me to get lean but easier for me to stay lean once I get there. I'm enjoying the process though.
Been totally MIA lately. I actually ended up tearing my meniscus at kickboxing and I haven't been able to train really. Weights and walking is all I've been doing which sucks. I have an appointment with my specialst soon. This isn't the first time I've torn my meniscus. Once when I was a kid playing football. It's been 2 weeks and it's super fucking disappointing considering I was making good progress. I've been sort of derailed. I'm going to get back at it starting today though. I've decided it shouldn't stop me from achieving my aesthetic goal. Just a bump in the road. Obviously I won't be competing in October anymore. Which fucking sucks.
Keep going I got my eyes on you.
6% man, join me.
Bummers, dude.
Oh well, that's how the sport goes.
I'll be back at it in no time. Luckily the meniscus tear recovery last time was so quick.
Ill be def getting to that 6%. No way I'm quitting now. If it means I gotta walk longer and more often, I'll be doing it.
Motivation:
