AMAZING use of slam poetry
"If you can't see anythign beutiful about yourself, get a better mirror. Look a little closer. Stare a little longer."
I love that he found such a powerful outlet for what clearly is painful for him . I've always had a pretty big soft spot for kids who get bullied - one of the few things that can still get me a little teary-eyed.
It's always inspiring, for me, when I see people be this vulnerable. He's also just a great public speaker
Watch the whole thing:
Damnn I balled just now. Great Post bro
Yeah, it got me a lil teary eyed for sure, nothin too intense tho. If you haven't opened yourself up in a while, it prob just triggered some deeper stuff in you that you didn't know was there which is great.
His vocal inflections and emotional projection is extremely good. He's just a very talented poet - and I think anyone can tell just from hearing the emotion in his voice how necessary it is for someone like him to have an outlet for those emotions, so kudos to him for fidning one that can also have such a wide-spread positive impact on others
I feel that crying is super super healthy. It's a form of expression that needs to be let out. As humans we must experience all spectrums of emotions. Especially as men we are socially conditioned to not express ourselves.
Oh dude 100%.
One of my best friends is a boxer (pretty legit too - he had a first round knockout in the golden gloves in NYC), he slays MAD chicks and he'll hit me up on text just like, "Duddeeee went for a run in the park today and got such a good cry in"
That being said, I see crying as a "tool" to allow yout o be your true self when it matters most. if you're out with a chick and some dude is sayin' shit... obviously it'd be pretty gay to start tearing up haha - the point is that there is a time and place for everything. But by opening yourself up on a regular basis, and lettign those tears out - it gives you access to the underlying masculine strength that you have, so that you can properly take care of the people you're out with from a place of core strength
Hit the nail on the head with that one man!
Just as aristotle says, as I paraphrase..choose the right time and place to take that action.
Funny that you mention that your friend is in the golden gloves, cause a friend of mine coaches for the golden gloves and he has an air about him that displays strong convictions with deep rooted emotional intelligence. Boxing must have something to do with that.
Anyone remember which one this was?
