I would like to discuss the 10 meter, 20 meter dash with some guys and thought about dropping that in the forum.

Not as a categorie however

Not as a categorie however for my sport we focused on explosion for the 10 meter and 20 meter dash.

Cool what sport?  I trained pretty hard to raise my vertical leap so I worked a crap load with plyometrics.  Put 8 inches on my vertical

Fuck yeah I sprint.  I used

Fuck yeah I sprint.  I used to be a really great athlete, so I've been sprinting every now and then to stay healthy.. nothing big or formal though.  I remember in high school I used to sprint faster than the black guys - they used to come up to me and tell me how fast I was haha.

I actually got some really awesome technique advice a few months ago and it IMMEDIATELY improved my speed.

Basically, all people, short tall skinny fat... a regular random guy or an olympic sprinter - human beings have about the same distance between steps, so it has nothing to do with how far your legs go out.

The technique is to keep your body upright, and you want to push your feet and legs DOWN into the ground as you're running.  Not push away or pull.

There was a really good documentary thing on this where they studied an olympic sprinter's form, I'll look for it and share it here if I find it.

Here's a great leg strength exercise I do:  from a stand still, squat down and jump as High and Far as you can (both - not one or the other).  As you do a landing squat, immediately jump again and do that as a HIIT exercise.

Jabronavich: Yes I do this exercice. Yeah it would be great if you can drop the documentary here. Thanks for the technical advice I start to grab some book on sprinting. Basically the 10 meter dash is all about keeping the center of gravity low and it's a concentric effort so I have to train on the squat side of the force, if you know what I mean.

Yo Rael if you want an

Yo Rael if you want an intense sprinting workout I got one for you. It is called the SPRINT JOG, my soccer coach loved this drill so much it hurts just writing about it lol!

So go to your local soccer field and sprint side 1 and jog the rest. Next lap, sprint sides 1 and 2 and jog the rest. Continue this pattern until your sprinting the entire field perimeter. If you want to practice being even more explosive try this with half the field or the 18 yard box. This shit is nasty, a few guys from the team ran track one year and set a 4x4 record because of this drill!
