Anybody familiar with the science/biology behind the "Wim Hof Method"?
I remember reading about the "Ice Man" a few years back, it's definitely an impressive skill set. Didn't realize he'd started his own method or what not. Anyone familiar with his technique and/or can explain the science behind it? Just curious what they've posited so far.
Ive listened to a few interviews with him a year or two back discussing his experience injecting himself directly with some sort of extreme toxin (a neurotoxin if im not mistaken) and using his technique to expel it. He also TAUGHT this to someone in a short amount of time (less than 3 months I think). They successfully rejected it as well.
Using ice and cold temperatures to transform the body has been used in china since ancient times, that I do know, I can reach out to a few sources for that if you're serious about that avenue. More common for women to take better to it funnily enough, but that's just a yin/yang conditional thing.
I don't expect to be able to study how he regulates his sympathetic nervous system any time soon, but If I have some unexpected down time, Id be glad to share what I discover (from a traditional chinese medicine perspective)
Im very surprised at how "marketing focused" he's seemed recently, struck me as pretty odd, Im not sure why making this so easily accessible is his priority over reaching out to the people who deal with crises that this would help with daily.
What do you mean by "marketing focused"?
CLARIFICATION: The method itself seems very sound, as its tibetan breathing meditation. I just have a personal preference that does not mesh with how he interacts with the public. IThat's just a priority for me.
Hell, I'd still consider it, but keep in mind that he has definitely been influenced to a certain degree by someone who follows decidedly average marketing principles. He's not being put out there in a way that brings enough value to the method.
He's obviously a super action oriented guy, some sort of communication struggles on his end is nothing out of the ordinary.
I don't get the feeling that I'm actually hearing his vision and message with how he markets himself.
