Anyone else like this movie?
Just watched Shamalan's "After Earth". Terrible reviews, I thought it was bad-ass.
Yeah I thought the movie was amazing. I think they hated on it because betas always try to disparage the warrior culture, and as soon as you try to link the warrior mythos to "enlightenment" and/or higher human achievement.. THEY FREAK THE FUCK OUT. LOL
wtf? this movie sounds awesome lol. I'll go see it tomorrow

Not to mention that critics love to disparage M. night every chance they get as well.

Though I don't disagree with either of these points and I suspect they're on the right track, I still seems like there's more to it.. Movies like the Matrix, Star Wars, almost any Bruce Lee movie share that commonality and they are revered. Maybe the sub communication, subtleties of this movie are lost on most. I can't put my finger on it, doesn't make sense to me. Maybe M. Night is just not for everyone, I also liked "Lady in the Water" and it got horrible reviews as well.
IMDB is rating it at 4.9. Wtf is that?
Every single one of those movies/series you mentioned has a massive disconnect between the "prowess" of the characters and "you". They never force a person to acknowledge their own inadequacies.. you don't have the Force, don't have the enhancing abilities of the Matrix, and aren't a small asian man with ninja skills. After Earth hits way too close to home for people to be comfortable with the idea of it.
Lmao, it's literally playing in ONE theater in my entire STATE and it's a three hour drive. Guess I won't be seeing this movie any time soon
I used to drive solo two hours every night to find chicks to talk to when I was in the military :b
Word
I would do that too if it was that important to me.
Yeah I think what you guys both mentioned about M. Night is for real though, and I think it's what Ruby was getting at.. something about M. Night encourages attack. Same with Megan Fox, a few others. There's some inconsistency people are seeing that is vulnerable to their attack they realize.
