Anyone experience with acne?
Yo dudes
Just wanted to see how many of you guys have had problems with acne and tried different stuff to battle it throughout the year. I've had it since I was 14 or so and have had several different treatments(including pills and lotions and whatnot) from the doctor.
The dermatologist put me on accutane which was pretty intense but it cleared up my acne pretty well.But since summer was coming I had to stop the treatment after 3 months and some of the acne came back.
Now I am doubting wether to get on accutane again or not since it was pretty intense and caused some headaches for me and can also affect your gains in the gym.
So I was thinking that since a lot of people on here seem to be nutritionally savvy, they could provide some valuable perspectives on this acne issue.
In the past I've tried cutting dairy completely and it didn't do shit(did it for probably more than a year), drinking green smoothies with broccoli spinach and other stuff but still no results.
Only thing that did seem to work was the accutane, but it does have some seriously fucked side effects.
feel free to share any other methods which you found helpful in battling acne!
Thanks
Brr serious question.. how much water do you drink daily.
around 3-4 litres a day
Ok that's a damn good amount. Did the doctor put you on that? Have you seen positive effects when you're drinking that much water?
Yeah that was just something I got from searching around the net for acne treatments and such, people said drinking water helped them so I started doing it daily. I've been doing it this way at least for a year or so, I guess the effects are on the positive side although I haven't noticed much. Also another thing I would note, that for me the acne is not so much on the face anymore(it used to be fucked up) but now it's more around my shoulders.
Ok I personally don't have much more to tell you mang. So did the doc's tell you what your body was up to to make this happen?
Check out ultramind solution but acne is caused by gut a bacterial imbalance and from consuming toxic shit like milk (from cows pumped with hormones or A1 milk) and other processed foods. Try cutting out all processed foods and eat natural whole foods, drinks 2 table spoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water each morning, exercise 3-4 a week like actually sweat, and get some good probiaotics.
haha alright
but the doctor told me it was probably due to overproduction of testosterone in my body. Which is why I am scared to take accutane again for a longer period of time(I took it for 3 months already), to not fuck up my hormonal levels or some other important shit in my body(it's got a lot of nasty side effects). It's the strongest medicine there is for acne and it's pretty fucking harsh, but it works the best.
would be cool if anyone else who'd battled acne before could chime in
here are some of the side effects:
depressed mood, trouble concentrating, sleep problems, crying spells, aggression or agitation, changes in behavior, hallucinations, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;
sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body;
blurred vision, sudden and severe headache or pain behind your eyes, sometimes with vomiting;
hearing problems, hearing loss, or ringing in your ears;
seizure (convulsions);
severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate;
loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
severe diarrhea, rectal bleeding, black, bloody, or tarry stools;
fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, purple spots under your skin, easy bruising or bleeding;
severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; or
joint stiffness, bone pain or fracture.
joint pain, back pain;
feeling dizzy, drowsy, or nervous;
dryness of the lips, mouth, nose, or skin; or
cracking or peeling skin, itching, rash, changes in your fingernails or toenails.

I had pretty bad acne until I was 17, and I have nothing to add to what carpediem said. It cleared up considerably when I started drinking crazy amounts of water, then went completely after a while of cutting out processed foods. I'd stay away from prescription drugs whatever the side effects, acne is NOT an accutane deficiency.
carpediem1 thanks dude I am watching that vid, I did however cut out dairy once for a very long time(over a year) but to be honest it didn't do much. I eat very little processed food as it is nowadays and still get it. I once tried probiotics for a few months, this one: http://www.iherb.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Jarro-Dophilus-EPS-120-Capsules/7006#p=1&oos=1&disc=0&lc=en-US&w=probiotic&rc=1029&sr=null&ic=1
didn't do much either.
But I am gonna watch that vid about detoxification, seems really interesting.
Do you go out in the sun a lot?
a nice little tan dries all dat shit up. I used to use all those products and stuff but I just felt like the chemicals were doing more harm than good. I think getting rid of it is a combination of things like diet, sleep, and preety much taking care of yourself in every aspect.
Also, do you shave a lot? cuz I think that irritates the shit outta my face. If you can grow a beard do that!
I find the sun does help keep my skin healthy. Once I covered the basics, like diet, water, lifestyle I started experimenting with a bunch of different products. I found a lot of them dried out my skin which in turn made my already sensitive skin more irritable and keeping clear was a big balancing act. What I found most helpful was the method on acne.org I didn't buy or use their products but essentially their M.O is wash face with a simple cleanser. pat dry, spot treat with a low grade benzol peroxide. then once that dries mositurize using a sensitive/perfume free mositurizer. A lot of acne products, cleansers and mosituriziers have garbage in them that can make your face more dry, more sensitive and just make the problem worse.
Check out that site for a more detailed layout, they tell you what ingredients to look out for and what not. I dont know what your dealing with but I just went through phases where my skin was shit and would get pimples and this method worked. Might be worth the try
Another vote for the sun. Just 20 minutes at the pool a day destroys virtually all of it for me.
THis is just , my personal experience but i bet it's completely valid. So I had a shitty diet up until two years ago. I often had acne and also had really inconsistent shitting habits. Like I would go two days without taking a dump consistently. So under the supervision of a preventive health doctor I went full vegetarian. But not the gay kind. I just have a rock solid diet. Salads, nut butters, hummus, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, etc. I'm strong as a motherfucker too. But what happened was my shitting got to be amazing. It's silly how bad to how good it is now. And my skin is perfect. No acne at all except for the occasional one after sleep. Point is, clean up what you eat and everything else takes care of itself. We're not meant to take engineered products and fix ourselves then keep on with the same habits. That's ridiculous. But if you make all the adjustments that you can then drugs are cool but I'm sure if you are patient and eliminate all the unnecessary foods you will be fine. It's not just dairy doing it. Meat if eaten consistently will clog your system up. I'd say go with meat 3 days a week if you need, but all other processed food has to go

Yeah bearpoop speaks the truth. Since I've assumed P.B.'s diet I've also shat regularly. Feels good niggah
Before P.B. (damn we oughtta start a new timeline) I would drink a gallon of prune juice every several months or so, I'd sit on the toilet.. all night (literally), and I'd be good for the next few months. Now..? No worries. No need
ohhh damn, some good advice here, yeah I am gonna start cleaning up my diet though and get that ultramind solution book. Only thing I am worried about is not eating meat? man I wanna bulk up and I am skinny as fuck, have a hard time gaining weight, so no meat would really fuck me up.
Btw manwhore, P.b. is the dude from kinobody right? the one you did the interview with, I browsed the site it's got some solid stuff on there. Does he have any dieting aspects in his products(the greek god, warrior program)? I was thinking of buying one

I'm no expert on nutrition so someone feel free to point out my ignorance, but no meat contains the full array of amino acids present in protein. Only quinoa, hemp seeds and chia seeds do. I've been eating at least one of those 3 every day and I get more than enough protein. I'm pretty skinny too so that was the main thing putting me off becoming vegetarian, but have no fear brother. Quinoa will solve your problems. Tasty as fuck too
I battled severe acne in my late teens and early twenties. I've tried a lot of things but ultimately went with accutane and that cleared it up and now acne is an afterthought. Ask your derm if you're good for another round. I would choose to accutane again.
This is what worked for me before I used accutane:
Paleo diet helped me clear up some of my acne.
Having a good facial cleansing regime helped too. The Acne.org regiem worked well.
Changing pillow case often.
I had more acne in LA then when I was in Santa Barbara probably b/c of the pollution.
