bloated stomach-poor abs
Sup guys, anyone experience stomach bloat that affects the overall looks and function of their abs?
I was watching some Elliot Hulse vidoes and he discussed how a bloated stomach is almost always an indicator of a problem with the digestive system, and the digestive organs can actually shut down the function of the superficial muscles. I've been experiementing with my diet and I defintely think there is some truth to this. Another factor affecting the abs is anterior pelvic tilt (I think), which makes my ab workouts over target my lower back and hip flexors. All I've read says that APT can be fixed or helped with stretching.
My question is what are the right ab exercises to do now, that won't further exaggerate this posture issue?
found some ok information... a few peoples are claiming that bend knee ab exercises will keep the hip flexors out the equation.
Yeah work on that pelvic tilt! You should be able to engage your abs by thursting your pelvis forward, like digging deep into a girl. That will engage the abs. THat's the position you want when doing abs movements like planks and what not.
If your pelvis is pulled backward that will exaggerate a bloated stomach. You don't need to push your hips forward for everyday life, just find a neutral position.
Focus on abs wheels and hanging leg raises. These will build your abs without causing back pain or worsening any issues you have.

The ab work with some form of these strenches coupled with glute bridges (daily till its fixed), and then some barbell glute bridges/cable pull-through at the gym. Activate dat ass!

I doubt diet has anything to do with it. Your abs are likely weak and the anterior pelvic tilt lengthens the abs. I havent seen you but Im willing to bet your bloated stomach is just fat.
To really strengthen your abs you need work and activate your deep abdominal wall. Do pilates type ab exercises, along with squats and deads while activating your transverse abdominus (theres youtube videos about this). All elliot h hulse's ab videos will lead you on the right path.
I have the slowest fucking metabolism in the world but I'm determined to have my shit together for the chicks. Sit ups are a requirement, no questions asked. If you like to eat, get Rasberry Ketones and they take all the cravings away, so sit-ups will work 5x better because you won't eat anything with junk in it and sit-ups will carve you out. After two weeks of this you will see major benefits and the results alone will keep you excited and motivated because chicks will take notice and your confidence goes way up. That's all the motivation you need at that point. I promise.
What's up with raspberry keytones? Not sure what everyone else's experiences are with situps but damn they just get ooold. Lol
So I had my mom do an evaluation on me because shes a physical therapist, and the anterior pelvic tilt is defintely there, but nothing too severe. What she was most surprised about was my lack of strength in my middle abs, I can't do a full situp without having someone hold my feet down. Even if I do it without assitance and let my feet go in the air it still doesn't work. What she is having me do is put my feet under a cabinet or bed and stay in a half situp position for around 3 second for 100 reps every other day.
This is about the best my abs have ever looked, this was back when I was playing soccer and was pretty lean (lean enough for abs im thinking). Keep in mind im flexed as well. There is defintely a huge difference between the upper and lower abs.

I really love this chart because it shows how inaccurate the fat caliber tests are lol, I'd say i'm like 15% even though I've always assumed I was below 10%
