Broke it off with my longest fuck buddy since my ex last night

So last night I broke things off with one of my fuckbuddies. Basically she came over and we talked for like an hour and I just told her that I didn't have the time to devote to keeping the relationship in a positive space.
I told her, it's not that it's like I feel I have to "Devote Time" to her specifically but rather that, just like any relationship with anyone, there is a time requirement and I'm trying to bust my ass and make moves on my own life and it's not fair to her, for me to only be focusing on my own thing.
I put all the blame on me and made it damn convincing. She was really upset. I'm just glad that she didn't seem to think it was her fault. I mean, the fact of the matter is that she's been great. I had to lay down the law a couple times but other than that, she's been an amazing girl and I'm really happy to have had the experience and time that I had with her- but it's time to move on.
Sucks for this shit to have to happen but honestly- if I didn't do it she was just going to be in a situation she wasn't happy with but couldn't get out of.... and unlike some dudes- that's not what I want. I don't care about sex enough to keep girls locked up in a an emotional trap.
If a girl is going to be unhappy but trapped in a cage because I have her emotionally locked up, then it's up to me to face the reality of the situation and force her out of the cage.
She'll thank me in a month or two.

Dude I totally feel you on this. Letting go of girls you've seen for a while and see as more than a fuck buddy is hard.
I find you have to set the stage from the start. Most of my LTR's are with girls who used to try to do all that stuff you mentioned. Hanging out all the time. Texting all the time. Not leaving when I want them to. After setting the stage from the beginning with various mechanisms it can be pretty sick. It's only worth doing if you actually love the girl though. I see the girls who are above "fuckbuddy" status maybe once every 1-2 weeks. I don't view this as having some weird level of "control" over the situation. It's just my reality. I can only give them so much time. I'm full willing to walk away from these girls at any given time.
Then again, if you're bored fucking her it probably wasn't worth the time to begin with. The girls I'm referencing are the girl who you actually have MORE fun with over time. The type of girl you only meet maybe 2-3 times a year if you're pimping hard.
