Singer Cee Lo Green made some claims that were so outrageous he had to delete his account after tweeting them.
Not long after appearing in court accused of slipping drugs into a woman's drink without her knowledge he decided to start an open conversation on social media trying to define rape. It was after people began commenting on his case which saw him plea a 'no contest', insisting this did not give an indication of guilt he started to make the comments.
To say these are inappropriate is an understatement.
His lawyers stated he had consensual relations with the woman although she claimed she did not recall everything that had happened. No rape charges were filed due to prosecutors stating a lack of evidence.
Before deleting his account he attempted to tweet an apology for his claims
Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.
I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it.…was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I’d never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.
I think what was probably intended was the fact this woman stated she didn't remember anything from the night before yet still accused Ceelo of rape. E.g. rape is an act of violent sexual coercion and to accuse him of this without remembering WHAT happened is bogus.
But these remarks have been taken out of context, and I think to a degree rightly so, because he accidentally implied that if you drug a girl into unconsciousness, or the like, then it's no longer rape. Really DUMB of Ceelo not to think ahead a bit. I'm sure he didn't mean that at all, but with this much at stake he's cruisin' for a bruisin' here.
All that being said he apparently did put ecstacy into a girl's drink without her knowledge.. which is drugging someone potentially into a more "compliant" state. Not something I would EVER do or allow from anyone around me, and he definitely deserves any sort of consequences that comes of this. But to try to automatically categorize this as rape is going way too far. The prosecutors made the right decision in not pursuing this.
Agree with everything you said.
Celebrities really need to stop using technology and social media as these sort of platforms to get their opinions out. Back in the old days, you would hear stories second hand about how some professional players or celebs were fucking dicks and what not. Now, in 2014 they make it very blatantly obvious. Instead of saying absurd shit like this in front of a person they're addressing millions of people. Of course some are bound to get offended.
Also, see: the celebrity nudes being leaked right now. The context is a little different as they were hacked but the fact still remains that they know they are celebrities and are still willing to store these pictures on their devices.
Dude if anyone ever hacked my phone...
Honestly I think he was just smoking weed and his "logic" got away from him.
The whole WITH distinction he makes sounds like some high ass shit, for sure.
I'm not sure the exact circumstances but popping drugs in a girl's drink, whether they're the "date rape" kind or not is NOT acceptable.
