Conor McGregor's ego-less training mentality
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlxaaGs-tHQ
Short but significant clip from Eddie Bravo about how McGregor showed up to his gym and shamelessly asked to roll with his best Bjj black belt's. Keep in mind no other UFC dudes would risk their reputation by doing this becuase they would be scared to lose,
This is the success mentality
Fucking awesome.
Both my boxing coaches just crapped out. My last one couldn't/wouldn't stop selling drugs DURING our training sessions, lol. Going to start training again at Wand's gym here in Vegas. Will do my best to get back into grappling as well.
I'm loving it dude. I know you told me to get into boxing and shit but I don't think It would be as fun as grappling for me. I do occasionaly hit my heavy bag just so I have some skills with my hands.
Manwhore have you ever trained BJJ or just wrestling? Wrestlers are notorious for getting extremely good at jiu-jitsu in a short period of time.
Yep I trained a bit of bjj. Was going for a spot on the fight team in Louisville, Kentucky when my shoulder came out of socket after my 2nd surgery. Stand up grappling with the 300lber. So fucking dumb of me. Gawdammit
Last point though.. who's going to win in a street fight.. grappler or boxer?
Skill being the same if it's purely one on one grappler. Skill being the same and it's a street brawl boxer. I think boxing is the most direct and practical way to get better than most people at a street fight in a short period of time which is why I want to start classes when I get enough money for it.
Best combo for street fighting= American Wrestling + Boxing.
Wrestlers get good at ju jitsu easily bc they already have fundamentals of controlling another persons body quickly and aggressively. One advantage a ju jitsu practicioner would have against a wrestler, in my experience is less of an ego. I remember one dude was super fast but clueless and I was just fucking with him by getting in turtle position to see what he would do. He starts mashing my head and face in the mat.....??? I'm like wtf is this guy doing. He's not even achieving anything. Yes they will come in fast as shit and maybe even get a smooth double leg on you and move into side control but they're just kind of clueless after that, even when there is 5 minutes left in the round, lol. They are very aggressive and they always have like the best cardio. I would stay after class and learn take downs from them.
Ok well bateh skipping ahead LOL. Yeah high school and college wrestler and boxer right hurr. Been beating ass in fights since I was about 7 yrs old. Bjj guys are absolutely terrible at taking a guy down to the ground and that makes all the difference in the world. Plus in a two on one or more fight they will get creamed. Perfect example, when I was 18 there were a couple guys terrorizing one of my sisters, I went to the place they were staying at and made them come down. At one point I was fighting both of them at the same time, I stayed up and controlled the fight kicking them both in the head before taking one of them down and just pounding him in the face till he stopped. Then was up before the other could do shit. My buddy (who didn't join the wrestling team) was trained in judo and bjj, but no real striking abilities, had a similar fight a couple weeks later. He had one of the guys on the ground choking him out, when the other guy ran up and kicked him in the face. Broke his sinuses. Had two surgeries.
Back in 2008 just a couple weeks after my last shoulder surgery I faced four guys at the same time outside a club in Lousville. I was with a fellow military guy who'd had his chute collapsed 40 ft off the ground and fell the rest of the way. Had metal and pins in both ankles and hips. So basically it was me against these four fucks while he tried to get my car started (he couldn't drive stick, DURR). The first guy jumped me from the side, hit me as hard as he could into the side of my face.. what he failed to understand is I have the hardest head on the planet.. I took him down and started ground and pounding him before he even knew what was happening, then was back up and facing his buddies before anyone could even react. Wrestling takedown to the ground and pound. There ain't nothing better. The story gets a lot more interesting before it finishes but I'm on my way to Xs nightswim so y'all can wait!
I set a man on fire
You guys are making over generalizations. My coach is Army Infantry and his Jiu-Jitsu is extremely aggressive. Yeah he knows very technical competition jiu-jitsu but we also learn a lot of take downs and he usually makes an effort to to explain when a striking opportunity would be available or how to defend from one.
Oh really huh? Lol DURR teach us about fighting you little 18 yr old soccer player
I set a man on fire
You gave him a uti?
We're making over generalizations. Hahaha I actually laughed out loud. Meow I love you man.
@ Manwhore yes, we had cranberry juice on standby to disinfect
Oh really huh? Lol DURR teach us about fighting you little 18 yr old soccer player
hahahahaha his one coach and he's all knowing
@Meow, hitting a heavy bag is TOTALLY different than hitting a moving human that hits back. If you wanna learn how to use your fists you should really get some boxing classes.
Lol negros that comment sounded a lot more douchey than intended. And Manwhore soccer has given me some amazing kicks and head butts.
My point is I wouldn't walk into a fight with my limited training try and arm bar someone and get kicked in the fucking head I'm not that stupid :). I would probably use the basics I've learned to take down and mount and that's about it.
I would only arm bar him if I wanted him to feel my balls :p
