Does anybody have any tips regarding concise writing and speaking skills
Defintely a big issue of mine, everytime I attempt to be concise I come off as extemely vague. If anybody has any advice I'd appreciate it greatly!
You ever notice how sometimes MW's posts are really short and snappy but somehow say everything a super long post would say and maybe then some? Basically cut out all the metal chatter, the things you think are important etc
because most of the time people listening or reading are not really listening or reading. Just look at television shows. Like How I Met Your Mother... the lines are all very snappy. On average most people's attention span only lasts about 10 sec until you need to feed them something else interesting
I didn't really learn to write until college. I remember winning amateur writing contests as a kid, won a bunch of bikes and gift certificates, money, etc.. and managed to skate through high school without learning how to actually write.. succinctly and to the point. Let's just say the first year of college was painful, as I started getting BAD grades on papers. Wtf
Anyways yes.. thesis statement, and five paragraph outline. Each paragraph follows a particular thought/idea. Learn in, it's the basis for good writing.
Each block of writing must be to support a single thought or idea. Anythinf else and you're wrong.
@infinity
YES... That was a great way of explaining it, thank you

So...it's pretty much about writing in a structured format. I think I shy away from structured papers because it sounds repetitive to me to make a point in a thesis, then discuss in a paragraph, and then restate the same point yet again in the conclusion.
"Shying away" from writing a structured paper is like.. shying away from getting laid because you don't like girls.
It's one big MAIN thought.. and 4 to 5 points that support it that make up the other paragraphs.
