Ethan's 45 Day Muscle Building Experiment (Daily Log with Pictures)
Starting on August 18th I'll be engaging in an experiment to see how much I can improve my body in just 45 days. It's going to be an EXTREME experiment where I'll be pushing my body to the limit.
I'll be keeping a log on this thread with daily weigh ins and weekly photo updates so you can all see my progress.
I'll be using the MP45 program which I can tell you from personal experience is no picnic. All my nutition and workout information is mapped out precisely. I know exactly what exercises I'll be doing, for how many reps and sets, and how much rest I'll be taking. I also have my eating schedule down. I know what I'll be eating, when, and how much. Everything is mapped out precisely for the entire 45 day period. I could use all your support on the forum to keep me accountable. I'll be post my log on a couple other forums as well. I figure the more people I have following my progress, the more accountable I'll be. I even created a small site where I'll be keeping a more detailed workout log. Once I'm finished, this site will act as an honest review of the program for everyone else on the web to see.
Please help keep my accountable for the next month and a half while I engage in this experiment. I'll answer any questions or comments you might have. I look forward to sharing my journey with you all.

fuck yeah, this is gonna be cool. Seems like you got this shit on lock. good luck.
Thanks Meow.
Doesn't matter if you can't dunk after this.
I'll try to dunk when I'm done and let you know.
Good shit, definitely in for this.
Good luck man
Alright. So it's the first day of my 45 day long workout protocol. As I said before, I'll be using the MP45 program for the next 45 days and keeping a log here on this forum as well as a few others with daily weigh ins and weekly photo updates so you can all see my progress.
My first workout is later on tonight, but as it's the first day I'll be doing an early post to give you all my starting stats. Here we go.
Starting Weight: 167 lbs
Looks like you're starting with a pretty good base there man. I'm really interested to see how this goes.
I'm thinking of starting one myself since I'm cutting weight for a kickboxing tournament. I haven't competed in like 8 months so it would be sweet to show how I can go from being semi-out of shape, with a higher bf than I'm used too, to being shredded and ready to go.
Damn that was a tough first workout. I almost forgot how hard this program is.
The first day was a full body workout with a lot of strip sets (aka going failure, then dropping the weight and going to failure again, then dropping the weight and going to failure again.)
I actually puked half way through the workout. I don't think I've puked during a workout since I was out training with the SEALs last year.
Day 02
Weight: 168.4lbs
Notes: Really sore. Couldn't sleep.
Day 02Weight: 168.4lbs
Notes: Really sore. Couldn't sleep.
i don't know why but this made me lol
Are you taking any supplements man? I know if it's hard on the body specific things can help you recover, also invest in zma? or melatonin, I use both since I have sleeping problems.
Hmm starting hard and burning out on the first week doesnt seem so smart to me... I was sore for weeks once and couldnt even move almost lol.

You trained with the SEALS? What happened?
Good luck on your program, in any case!
Day 03
Starting Weight: 167.0lbs
Current Weight: 169.4lbs
Notes: I actually did a couple sets of squats two days before I started this program just to let my body know that I'm gonna be pushing some weight. Usually I'm only sore after my first workout, then I get used to it.
I'm not taking any suppliments other than some whey protein in my shakes. I've heard of meletonin. Don't you have to inject that though?
What I do to help me recover is right after I work out I eat some carbs and protein, then immediately take a one hour nap.
Ya. I trained with them for a couple days. I wasn't actually in the Teams or anything. I was invited by a family friend who was a SEAL team commander to join a private, invitation only prep course for guys who were considering going through a spec ops selection course (SWCC, Pararescue, Special Forces, SEALs, ect)
No man, melatonin is a sleeping pill haha. It is natural I think? I'm not quite sure, my dad bought them for his messed up sleeping schedule and said I could use them, they work amazing.
AP_Grappler: Okay. Thanks for the info.
Day 01: 167.0lbs. Notes: First day. Vomited during workout.
Day 02: 168.4lbs. Notes: Really sore from first workout. Couldn't sleep.
Day 03: 169.4lbs. Notes: Did sprints today. Almost vomited. Didn't. Great success.
Day 04: 169.8lbs. Notes: Rest Day. First week of classes. Lots of hot girls. More incentive to get buff.
What's up guys. So I'm on day five of the workout program.
A few days ago was the Northern California premiere of When The Game Stands Tall. The film tells the story of the De La Salle high school football team and their 151 game winning steak. One of the longest winning streaks in sports history and stars Jim Caviezel as Coach Bob Ladouceur (Pronounced: LAD-uh-ser). Unfortunately due to a scheduling conflict, I wasn't able to attend the premiere, but luckily an acquaintance is friends with Coach Ladouceur and invited me to a private screening with the coach and a select group of De La Salle alumni. I enjoyed the film. I got a free souvenir copy of the documentary film Perfect Effort which is also about the De La Salle Spartans and their philosophy.
I also had my second day of classes yesterday. I’m gonna tell you all about my go-to move to get with girls in your class. First you need the fundamentals. You need to have good social skills. Look good. And have a good identity. After that, you can focus on “techniques.” So as far as techniques go, to get with girls in your class, you want to make sure that you sit next to them right away. When you walk into class during the first week, find the hottest girl and sit next to her. Once everyone in the class gets used to sitting in a certain spot, that’s it. That’s the seating assignment for the entire year. So unless you sit next near the hot girl during the first week, you never will, and your opportunities to be social with her during class go out the window for the rest of the year.
I’m not gonna tell you how to flirt in this post. I’ll cover that at a later point, as that subject could fill multiple books. For now I’m just gonna tell you about the technique I’ve been using to hook up with the hot girls in my class. This technique is specific for night classes. During class, flirt and chat a little bit. Don’t go too gamey. Being a bit gamey is fine if you’re at a club or bar or something, but in class it comes off a bit weird. Talk about normal stuff and joke around a bit. If you’ve got any good stories about cool stuff you’ve done, tell them. The first week, everyone is nervous about meeting new people. If you've been cold approaching, you’ll probably actually have more experience walking up to people you don’t than most of the people in the class. Take advantage of this and be the social guy.
Stay in your seat next to the hot girl and talk with everyone before the teacher arrives in class. Don’t get up from your chair, or you might lose it, but chat with the people around you, don’t just focus on talking to the hot girl. Talk to everyone. She’s not going anywhere so there’s no rush. Make sure you come off as the socially confident guy. One of the best ways to do this is the talk to multiple people at once. Start a conversation with someone and then bring others around your into the conversation.
You: So what’d you do over the summer?
Person 1: Blah blah blah.
You: Oh cool. (Turn to another person next to you.) Hey. What’s up. What about you? You get up to anything over the summer?
Person 2: I went to blah blah blah with my parents.
You: Oh damn. How was that? Do you travel a lot?
Person 2: We’ve been going there every summer since I was like 6. It was fun. We saw some relatives we have over there.
You: Okay. Nice. I was in blah blah blah a few months ago. It was amazing. Blah blah blah. (Back to person 1) What about you? You travel at all?
Obviously this isn’t a great example, but you get the idea. Talk to multiple people at once. Bring others into the conversation and you end up being the leader of a big group discussion. Being a leader is sexy to women. They like a guy who can hold court and control a large group.
Bring the hot girl into the conversation. Be interested and be interesting.
Now she sees you’re a cool, social guy. Work with her a bit during class. At the end of class say, “Here. Hold up. Walk with me.” Then walk her to her car. (If it’s a night class and the last class of the day). Now that you’ve established yourself as a cool guy there shouldn’t be any objections. Playful teasing and more personal questions are now appropriate.
Here’s what I did last night. I followed the method outlined. When class ended I said, “Alright. See ya. What are you up to? You heading home right now?”
Her: Possibly.
Me: Possibly? Come on, it’s 9 o’clock on a Thursday… I guess you’re a bigger partier than I thought.
Her: Ha. You know nothing.
Me: Here, I’ll walk you to your car. Did you just quote Game of Thrones to me?
Her: Do I watch Game of Thrones?
Me: No. Did you quote Game of Thrones. There’s a redhead in the show and that’s like her catch-phrase. ‘You know nothing Jon Snow.’ So what else are you taking?
Her: French and Business Advising.
Me: That’s it? You know what they should teach you in Business Advising?
Her: What?
Me: To take more than two classes in college. That’s some solid business advice right there.
Her: Haha. I work a full time job.
Me: Oh. So is that what you do… when you’re not partying on a Thursday. But no, what kind of job is it?
Her: I work for a finance company.
Me: Okay. (At this point she got a text message and looked at her phone. When she put it down I said...) Ya. My parole officer makes me check in as well when I finish class. Trying to keep me away from bad influences. I don’t know what he’s say if he knew I was hanging out with you. So is this your first year?
Her: Ya. I graduated early.
Me: Okay. How old are you? Cause I’m gonna be honest if you’re only 14, my parole officer isn’t gonna be too happy.
Her: I’m actually only 12.
Me: Oh. Well that’s okay then. 12 is actually better than 14. If you were 14 the cops would be like, ‘What are you doing walking at night with a 14 year old?’ But if you’re 12, then they’d be like, “Oh that’s so nice of you walking with that little girl.” At a certain age it actually becomes reputable again to walk with a little girl at night.
By this point we’d reached her car. Usually this is where you’d make out with her. Unfortunately there was a cop car parked literally right next to her car with the cop still sitting inside. Usually when I do this, we’re all alone in the parking lot, so making out with the girl is easy at this point. You’d say, “Here. Give me your hand.” Then take her by the hand, push her against her car, and make out with her. I would have had no qualms about making out with her with the cop right next to us, but she probably would have, so instead I got her number.
I’m gonna hit her and a couple other girls up later and see which ones want to get together tonight or Saturday.
For everyone in high school and college, it’s still early in the school year. Take advantage of that and start implementing these strategies. The first few weeks can set the tone of the whole year.
Day 01: 167.0lbs. Notes: First day. Vomited during workout.
Day 02: 168.4lbs. Notes: Really sore from first workout. Couldn't sleep.
Day 03: 169.4lbs. Notes: Did sprints today. Almost vomited. Didn't. Great success.
Day 04: 169.8lbs. Notes: Rest Day. First week of classes. Lots of hot girls. More incentive to get buff.
Day 05: ???.?lbs. Notes: Scale broke. Needs new batteries. Weight today is unknown. Went for a run and played two hours of tennis.
In the beginning of my Army days I used to vomit during EVERY morning pt session. I just kept going, I'd even have to vomit while I was running. This caught the eye of one of the cadre, a special forces green beret captain who became a mentor.
