Exercise/Drills for feeling Anxious
Been feeling really anxious these past two days and I have no idea why.. I have been pretty stressed out with a big move this week, midterms, some extra curricular stuff, injuries, etc. I figure that could be the reason.. but the main point is that I haven't felt like this for quite some time and I'm wanting to relinquish this feeling asap.. I feel very tight in the chest and paranoid/super heightened sense of awareness and nervousness for some reason.
If anyone has any drills or exercises to help shake this.. I'd really appreciate it.
Mindfullness meditation
This is typical mid-term to long-term unconsciousness. It's a low-level underlying tension in the body. Listening to Tolle for 20+ minutes a day is the real solution and the permanent one. Try listening to Practicing the Power of Now while on a run, if that doesn't bring you to consciousness and strip you of tension you're an oompa loompa. Anything in particular causing you stress that you realize you need to take action on?? Acknowledge it, address it, begin to take the action you need to on it and plan out the rest, and then release it. Also do the "Cutting the Cords" visualizations exercise. All of these together
Hey, i had almost the same problem, before two days, i was feeling somewhat nervous and my body heavy. Then heard on mp3 tolle, for the past two days, twice a day for 20 minutes and BOOM problem completely solved. TOLLE IS THE MAN, still hearing that mp3 by the way haha;)
meditation with focus on sensation of breathing for 45 min.
listen to tolle and do his exercise of watching what your next thought will be. this will shut off your thoughts, which is your anxiety, for a second or maybe more depending on your ability to be present. keep doing it. stop taking your thoughts seriously, which is hard when you're in their grip such as an anxious state.
Let tolle talk you out of worring.
didn't know about running and listening to tolle, MW. will try it next time i go running. :)
I took your suggestion with the Tolle, I was lucky I had my ipod handy or I would have been fucked. Went for a walk, since it's painful to run with my knee at the moment.
I find it's a rare thing these days when I get these "anxious attacks" since I been pretty on top of my shit with it. I have been extremely stressed though. I just moved, all this school work and normal work, etc. I think I understand why it happened, like a system overload of stress...
I'm glad it's getting easier to maintain and I'm actually starting to understand it more and more... I think it's only going to get better from here if I stay on top of my shit.
