Figured this shit has worked out for me with girls- Might as well do it for my weight: Buddha's Bodybuilding.com FR Thread

So I've been focusing (on and off) on losing weight for about 9 months now. Was doing well for about 4-5 months, then took a couple off and gained a LOT back and now I'm back on the horse.
I've never done this before but I actually created a "Field Report" thread on "Bodybuilding.com... My screenname is "Phoenix213" on that site.
You can check out my weight loss thread here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=152256173&page=1
If any of you have an account on there- hit up the thread and let me know your thoughts.
I'm a SERIOUS noob at losing weight, as I've never really done a "diet" before... so I'm basically just trying to learn as much as possible and implement changes as quickly as possible (same stuff I tell guys new to pickup to do- Cut from the same cloth baby- time to go into a new arena and be humble, put in my licks and work my way up through constant action)
Also- for guys wondering how to get good at pickup, and/or want to see the mindset of a guy who got good at pickup and see how I act when I am new to a particular field or activity- it might be good reading, simply to see how quickly I implement changes, how i act when given advise and my general approach to learning something new and getting good at it.
Ha! Also- it may put at ease some of you who see my results and think I must be really good looking or super in shape.. I'm actually pretty severely overweight (although I do carry my weight relatively nicely for someone my size), so just a little further proof that this stuff DOES work.

Haha I used to hang around
Haha I used to hang around those forums all the time. You've given me tons of value so I feel its time to give some back. I've lost 70lbs and kept it off.
Listen to Alan Aragon http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/alanaragon/ I've met him personally and clients he's trained. I met one guy who was over 400lbs and is now less than 200. He was the first no-nonsense, no gimmicks nutritionist/personal trainer who led me out of the woods.
Martin Berkhan www.leangains.com Martin lead the resurgence of intermittent fasting. He's a prick, but his client results are insane. Intermittent fasting, in general, is the easiest pattern for me to follow.
Lyle Mcdonald. Lyle is a recluse and a total aspergy asshole. He's pretty much alienated himself from everyone besides Alan Aragon. http://bodyrecomposition.com -- his offical website and support site for his books. If you want to nerd out with real fitness geeks you can go to the hidden site: http://monkeyisland.lylemcdonald.com
JC is a friend of mine. He learned the sciency stuff from books, Lyle, and Alan, but has outstanding people skills and relatability. http://jcdfitness.com
Roger is hilarious, writes incredibly well, and is a beast. He is another Alan protege with an uniquely engaging style. http://roglawfitness.com/
Overall, any fat loss system "works" because it either tricks, convinces, or forces you to eat less. All of the guys above will tell you to count calories which definitely leads to success if followed, but I found it to be incredibly time consuming and annoying. It took me a long time to learn to listen to my body, but once you've learned, I believe its the best way. I don't have the exact link (and you'll have to translate via google from Norwegian) but on Borge Fagerli's blog (http://myrevolution.no/s/artikler/) you'll find the Concept and Advanced Concept Diet articles which tell you how to lose the fat while listening to your body.
Its helpful to pick one source of info to listen to and ignore the others.
The essentials:
Caloric deficit
Lift heavy weights
Sufficient protein
Essential fats
Enough carbs
Supplements, cardio, specific routines, crossfit, specific foods, etc are all superfluous.
The point of giving you all of those links above and then telling you to listen to one source is that you must find what works for YOU, but you will not find that out until exploring options. I gave you links to people who get excellent results for their clients following sound principles of fat loss. What works for you will come down to your personal preferences with respect to food choice, when to eat, what exercise to do, when to exercise, whether you like to cardio or not, etc.
Feel free to ask me any questions

My friend just got the
My friend just got the training certification from precision nutrition. I glanced at it and it looks sweet. All about specifically tailored meal plans and psychology of change, how to induce new habits in the people you train and make it stick. Awesome stuff.... Too bad its a 16 week course to do and costs $1000. My friend got it from them for free and even he can't do it due to the time obligation
Anyways Bhudda - if you haven't yet check out precision nutrition. the rsd of the fitness world. just like rsd they have a ton of free value and a coaching program.
