Girl on "Dating Sabbatical"

Hey guys,
I met this girl on the street and she asked me to take her number, but in a way of her knowing that it was the point of my approach. Well, apparently she is taking a "sabbatical' from dating. Probably bullshit. Any ideas on how to respond?
Me: Hey xxx, don't forget to return you dress and do your taxes. Cheers - XXX (not great, but I just couldn't be creative/funny at that moment, so i sent something more random with the tax thing)
Next day
Her: Hey! Thanks that was sweet you were funny yesterday. I hope you're not offended or If you wanted to go out but I am taking a dating sabatical for a while.
My angry, frustrated side wants to respond, "Well, you shouldn't have given me your number in the first place. I really don't need a metaphorical "pat on the back" with your number. Next time, be honest right off the bat.'
But, my constructive side, that wants to possibly do something with this and might respond,"I don't even talk or date girls. I'm really shy and you have cooties" (kinda like when Tyler says ,"Im shy..." but in text.
Also, does this say something about my interactions? possibly not man to woman enough(how do I fix this?), even though Im direct. This is something I do struggle with. I have gotten this type of line from girls about 3 times in the past six months.
Let me know what you think and how i can improve the above. Thanks.

Should I really say the line above? It seems like there is a little room to work with, and the whole calling her a whore is overkill. Maybe I could respond, " I only talk to girls who wear granny panties to hide their cooties, thus...".
