My gawd, just watched The Skin i Live in, starring Antonio Banderas and it is such a DEEP movie - like...the human centipede but with actual depth!
Can't recommend it enough for you foreign film buffs :)

Dude wait, wtf?? No film with any kind of similarity to human centipede should be deemed watchable. Ew

LOL naw, it's just a loose comparison cause it involves surgery to some degree, apart from that it's world's apart and once the plot thickens and you begin to connect the dots watching this film it. trips. you. out

Julien had a bunch of amazing foreign flicks at his house his roomie was some kind of gay film buff in the industry. Apparently there's some amazing movie with a rape scene with Monica Bellucci, pretty sure it's called Irreversible in English. Vincent Cassel is in it another bad ass.
Foreign period pieces are great had NO idea I was such a film nerd till I watched a couple.

Yh, i got turned off by mainstream films 2009-2010 and watched a lot of foreign films in that time; irreversible was one of them. Such a gem of a movie, and yhh there's a naughty 10 min rape scene in that one, yet i wouldn't say it's as intense as some others.
Oldboy is pretty badass too MW, you'll like that. And if you dabble in any hallucinogenics like acid then the BEST film to trip out to is Funky Forest.
Oh, and for period pieces, Downfall is great for depicting the last days Hitler faced in his bunker before his defeat.

I'm going to erase any record of one of the films you mentioned I do not think it should ever be brought up.

I am sure Irreversible is a good movie and all that.. but really there's another reason why I'm about to watch it on Netflix.

Amores Perros is another good 'un, kinda like a Taratino flick but with some latin flavor to it.

Yes I continued watching it after that. Got really cool. The conversation on the bus where Monica talks about sex is KILLER I was just having the same conversation with a client yesterday.
Also another interesting point.. Marcus (vincent) went after the guy with fire but got his ass kicked.. it was the WK who actually went full psycho in the end. Lesson being, true expression of self means you don't hide or bury stuff and let that shit stew till it comes out and fucks some shit up!

I'll watch it again, i think all the shocking scenes distracted me from the rest of the film.
I saw A separation yesterday, REALLY highly rated - it won't be everyone's cup of tea though, it's totally provincial and set in Iran, but if you wanna learn more about the impact of their politics, religion and social strata its the go-to movie.
MW, what did you learn from Monica's conversation or what did it reaffirm? I've completely forgotten it lol
