Matthew 25:14-30
English Standard Version (ESV)
The Parable of the Talents
For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants[a] and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.
He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.
But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.
Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.[c] You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’
He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’
But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
I came across the same passage a few days ago, in a book titled "The Good Psychopath". Its a pretty good book written by an Oxford University Psychologist and an SAS (Elite British Special Forces) decorated hero.
What a crazy fucking name. What was the point they were making about it?
Haha...Basically they were poiting out the failing of risk aversion and that we each have a moral responsibility to roll the dice and get the very best out of ourselves. The book has actually become a bestseller here in the UK. I think you guys you would enjoy it as well. The book came about when this guy Andy McNab, one of the most decorated soldiers in the history of the British military agreed to meet Dutton, the psychologist, in his lab. McNab is also a very famous author, entrepreneur, and consultant for corporations. Dutton put McNab through some tests, and the surpsie was that McNab turned out to be a full-on psychopath. But Dutton makes the point that psychopathy is first of all a spectrum, not a black or white label, and that its an objective concept, contrary to popular belief...
Some of the characteristics of this psychopathy, which McNab exhibits, is being as calmer OR EVEN CALMER under extreme stress and pressure and in situations other people would be easily overwhelmed, the trait of just doing it and going for what they want, a great ability to live in the present, which psychopaths share with elite buddhist monks. In the beginning of the book, Dutton explains how psychopaths can also be bad, like Hannibal Lecter from "The Silence of the Lambs". and how he is different from McNab, for example, and what makes these psycopaths become good or bad...
I am not done with the book yet, but it seems pretty good. Especially for people like me who want to condition themselves to "just do it".
Typo... The psychopaths were calmer under stress than they were in normal "no stress" situations.
Yeah a study from my psych class said that 50% of CEOs are psychopaths, technically speaking.
Don't wanna get too far off the main post here, but we all love talking about psychopaths. Some dude from my town is psychopathic ...used to be pretty good friends with him... anyways he recently kills some dude, vehicular manslaughter after running from the police, and shows absolutely no remorse. He was out driving the next day, then out drinking with his friends the next weekend. His naive friends even feel the need to stand up for him because he has lead the social narrative so well. Crazy shit.
what I got out of the bible verse is that those that act in fear and let fear be their inner state will be treated with aggressiveness and lack of empathy. What you fear becomes reality so fear nothing.
Yes that's one point to be gleaned from it. Those that don't act and hide in fear will be "treated with aggressiveness and lack of empathy." I love the 2nd part lol.
What you fear becomes reality, so fear nothing.
There's a lot of "talented" people out there. But they fall prey to their own human nature, which is innately lazy. Jesus was saying.. stop being lazy you fucking bitches.
I was rated the #1 sociopath in the community, by Puahate. Go figure!

Lol!! c'mon where was Julian when this happened?
Yeah this is pre-Julien. Anyone that knows me realizes I'm the opposite of a sociopath. And actually those ARE the two paths to "success with women" as described by the white ivory towers of scientific study. Either full empath or cold, calculating psychopath.
well that certainly makes it easy to see why the general public is so put off by PUA's:
"Cold, Calculating, Psychopaths"...hahahaha
Naw it's definitely skewed in favor of the other. And no matter what it's still way harder for those types to get anywhere with it. They can really only repeat what they see or hear, they can't make too many intuitive leaps on their owwn. But yeah I've seen people fall for their shit and I'm just standing there like.. are you fucking serious?? What's the matter with you
