Ideas:
-Make new forum accounts wait 24 hours, or however long you want, until they're allowed to post. But, allow them to PM you to lift the temp restriction if they want to post sooner.
-Get one of those things that displays a random set of letters and numbers each time you want to make an account so they can't auto fill it
-Don't let new accounts make new threads or bump threads that are over X days old, until said accounts are X days old or have X number of posts.
I don't mind having to enter something to log in. That original CATPCHA thing was pretty ridiculous though. The problem is the "go getters" who actually manually pass the tests. So you have to stump an an actual human being. Maybe try "trivia" type questions like "Write the whole phrase with the missing letters: M*ster* Method"
