The animation shit works simply because it gives the viewer something to look at while the speaker is speaking. Look at Leafy, dude built a career out of saying silly shit while playing Counter Strike surf in the background. The visuals keep the viewers attention while the actual words and content build your reputation and give the content depth.
Almost all popular YouTubers have this formula down in some manner. Scarce plays Overwatch in the background while reporting on dumbshit YouTube drama. Phillip DeFranco has tons of cuts. Tyler uses infield.
