Manwhore Training Helps with Interviews: Phone Game FTW
Tue, 08/14/2012 - 21:10
So basically, I just DOMINATED my first phone interview with a company that I would absolutely LOVE to work for. Like I fucking CRUSHED the interview.
It took place over the phone and here's the thing- because of manwhore drills, I've been practicing my phone game for more than a month now... It played a HUGE role in my success in this interview.
Remembering to switch up my vocal tone, talk passionately, speak loudly and clearly, remembering to pause, breathe and give the interaction "space"... ALL the stuff that I would do if I was calling up a girl to set up a date- I did on the phone interview... except instead of a date, I got a callback for an in-person interview. See- with girls, I have this crazy amount of value to offer and one of my sticking points is offering too much of that value, too quickly... BUT- with an interview... HOLY SHIT.... I just can overload them with value and awesomeness and it's like BOOM no need to hold back- let's just put it all on the fucking line and see what happens.
At the end of the interview, I asked how the interview process, in general, works and when I could expect to hear back from them and the LADY (yeah.. it was a girl- totally not fair lmao... of course i was gonna kill this)...
It was kinda cool cause at one point I told her all about a startup company I had created a little while back and she was just fucking FLOORED by this... because it's like one of the things that I can talk passionately and in detail about the most and I just went OFFF on her ass about it... When I was done, she literally responded by just saying, "Wow.." and then paused and I didn't say anything, cause I wanted to just hold that moment and then after like 2 seconds of silence she goes, "That sounds amazing"... lol
Then she asks me, "So what motivates you in life?" and it's funny cause this question actually kind of caught me off guard...
And I told her that, I was like, "Wow, that's an interesting question because I really feel that I am a passionate and motivated guy but to tell you WHAT it is that motivates me is kind of difficult." and then, on the spot- it just kinda hit me... and so I go, "Okay, well this may come across like a kind of weird answer... but... For me, I feel that there is NOTHING after THIS life... like this is the only chance we get, after this, we're done. So for me, it's like, if this is the only chance I get- I'm going to go HARD and make sure that I succeed at what I want to do and live a life I want to live and even if I don't succeed, I'm going to make sure that I took the action necessary to have put myself in the best possible situation to succeed... cause it's the ONLY chance I get and there is this crazy sense of a need to take advantage of each and every day, because of this." and then I'm like, "So yeah, that might have been kind of a weird answer... but it's the truth"
And she just goes, "Actually, that was probably one of the best answers I've ever heard. I can tell that you really meant that and you actually seem to have every quality we look for in a candidate. Like what you just described is the absolutely IDEAL mentality for any employee to have"
And so then I asked her about the interview process and she goes, "Well, normally, I'll have a day of phone calls and then I'll talk to my hiring manager and call everyone back by 5:30 and let them know if we're going to pursue them further, but i have a VERY strong feeling about you and, to be honest, if you were still in New York, I'd have you come in for an in-person interview today but since you're not, when is the soonest possible date you can be out in New York"...
FUCKING KILLED IT.
You see- the thing is that I've always been a passionate, smart, awesomely positive guy- BUT.... what the manwhore training has basically allowed me to start doing is finally allowing me to EXPRESS WHO I AM in a way that other people can relate to and in a way that SHOWS that side of me, instead of getting caught up by the nerves and "what to say" and whether I'm doing it right or whatever... It's basically allowed me to begin to develop the confidence to simply express my naturally amazing personality in a way that takes what was already inside of me and shows it to the world.
NYC- I'm BACKKKKKKKK

@kris:
lmao- yeah...
And also it's cool cause I was kinda annoyed that I hadn't heard back from any of the jobs I applied to and then this week I just heard back from 5 of them and it's like... yeah... this is going to happen
Like I'm at a point in my life where I'm starting to literally GET everything i WANT... like I'm not saying everything is PERFECT.... but I am doing everything I can to get everything I want and I'm succeeding at it all on some level and going through the process.
Like I didn't get the VERY BEST job that I applied for (google) but you know what? I applied and I put forth my best effort to get it... so I'm content with that. I don't have to sit here the rest of my life and wonder, "What If"
My weight goal: I haven't weighed myself today but as of yesterday- I was 0.5 lb off of my first checkpoint for my weight... and just from pictures, I actually am starting to slim down, significantly (35 lbs lost so far)
Working out goal: I've been lifting and gaining a lot of muscle... I've put on 40 lbs on my squat since I started
Meditation: Meditating every day
Job Goal: I have 5 interviews this week (biggest issue is scheduling)... nothing for sure yet, but I'm on the right track and feeling very motivated by the fact that I'm starting to get callbacks. It's like they are all calling me back at the SAME time lmao. When it rains, it pours. You really do reap what you sow.
Pickup Goal: I've gone out 54 days in a row and I started to get girls texting me back a little bit ago and now I'm starting to get girls willing to set up dates and actually show up to them and on top of that getting a few snl's thrown in there for good measure... And I've gone out 54 nights in a row- ALL THE WHILE... accomplishing all of these other goals in my life.
Reading: I'm almost done with the book I made a committment to finish reading. Gonna start up another one soon... been reading 30 minutes every day consistently.
I'm in a good place right now and the only way to stay there is keep pushing.
You got 2 options in life:
1. Give up
2. Go HAM
lmao- yeah...
