This Meant a Lot to Me
One of the guys on my sales team, who I convinced to take this job despite making way less than he was taking before, sent me this text last night. It really meant a lot. It was also kind of validating because I really put the "Full Court Press" on this guy, sotospeak, to join our team, despite the fact that he'd be making less money:
Him: Dude this is how much this job has changed me
Him: This is a text I sent my parents
Him: It's funny to see myself change and mature like this. But I'm very happy without having to make a ton of money or spend it on a lot of things. I really like the people I work with, my role, and am happy with my life outside of the office as well. An opportunity to continue to grow in the company and in the market is great and will help me out in the long run"
Him: I know you have heavier issues on your mind right now, but that is all because you let me work here
Me: Damnn
Me: Appreciate you sending that to me man
Him: Yeah well honestly I owe a whole lot to you, you've done a lot for me
Him: And just happened to be talking to my parents so I thought I would share that with you
This is the first time I've had someone tell me that I've really had this kind of positive influence on their life and their maturity. It feels amazing to have this kind of impact on someone. I'm just gonna keep fightin' the good fight.
Awesome!
It's big man. This is what you aim for when you set out to be successful.
You want to be able to be succesful for yourself, but obviously we always want to be successful in the role of being leaders - it's kind of like a testament to who you are as a man, and so to have members of my team coming to me and telling me this stuff is just great to see. It makes me recognize that I'm succeeding in what I'm meant to do in this life.
