Monumental Perpective Changes - Focus Your RAS On What's Important
I'm sitting here studying for my final exam tomorrow and an awesome though just crossed my mind. The way you perceive things and people is fucking huge in the game and this tiny little trick has helped me achieve amazing results these past three months. Let me give you a hypothetical:
Picture yourself in a crowded bar. You glance to your left and see an amazing girl. She's just your type.
Whats the first thought that comes across your mind?
Examples:
What should I open with? (Newbie RAS/death)
I want to meet this girl (Intermediate)
You think absolutely nothing and immediately go open. (Advanced)
Obviously there are thousands of variations to what you could be asking/telling yourself. But here's the main takeaway.
By asking yourself a QUESTION, you are putting yourself in a weak position. You are already debating yourself about your actions. Always think in statements to avoid this. By focusing your RAS on what is important (wanting to meet the girl) it sets you in the right mindset and you will open much much better because your actions will be genuine. Finally, the advanced guy will not think about it he just Nike's that shit. Primal instinct.
When I started out, I was asking myself too many questions and not focusing my RAS at all. Every guy can slip into these thought patterns if they're not careful. Observe what your mind is doing next time you see a stunner and apply this.
