MW app for iPhone
What's the word on this? My buddy and I (both software dudes) are in the planning stages of writing a similar text uploader for iOS
Uhh.. I won't be making an iphone version anytime in the near future, in fact probably never. So if you want to go ahead and do it, feel free. The thing about iphone is there are just so many ways of scraping conversations.. and displaying them in multiple ways. Either as actual screenshots, or even just the texts themselves written out. Not sure about timestamps, but I know they at least get pretty close. Take a look at diskaid 5

ran into a roadblock situation. there's no API to handle the text message database in iOS... something about Apple's privacy concerns. geyyy

it's honestly a means to hone my iOS skills and possibly help out a shit ton of iPhone users on this forum. It looks like it's not going to be possible now, though...unless we come up with a super creative way of extracting users' text exchanges. or, even crazier, we build our OWN text message app with a shit ton of features (like receiving replies to your conversation uploads via text)... which could take up to a year to design and implement
Ok right.. so what you should do is take advantage of one of the already existent means of scraping "data" off the iphone, and just build off of that. Shouldn't be too difficult :b

And if you're wondering about the whole "jailbreak" thing I'd say 1 in 4 users are totally down to jailbreak. Mix that in with me saying "Jailbreak your phone, fucker!", you'll have plenty of room to grow with it. This forum is only going to get bigger, and I imagine you might be able to "expand" with it.

Update: the whole jailbreak route seems to cause more trouble than its really worth tbh.
we're exploring a new idea involving choosing conversations and uploading their jpegs to the website. i'm not sure how much data your site can handle but I would need those details along with a few others in the future

i would say that uploading the jpegs is the only thing that we (me and cybershot) can think of right now..
Theres also one more way of resolving this issue which is by prolly using google voice API.. but we havent explored it yet fully.. so wouldnt be entirely sure on that..
But we ll keep it posted MW
