Need you help retrieving my security deposit!

Alright guys, i'm in "WTF" mode right now.

I signed a lease towards the 2nd half of last semester (Feb) and ended up living with 9 other people.

Turned out the girl I was subleasing for kind of bailed due to personal and financial issues.

Deposit normally was around $900 and monthly rent was $615, however I olny paid $615 for the deposit because they needed someone to fill in asap.

Anyways the lease ended on June 15th and since then i haven't heard from the landlord. In fact one of my roommates claimed the landlord told him we would be lucky to get our deposits back because of the damage, that's another issue.

Today I called the landlord. I found out that he gave one of the roommates the responsability to distribute everyone's security deposit 2 weeks prior to move out once the damages were deducted.

To top that off, apparently we were ALL supposed to sign a form to agree to that, BUT it was never brought to my attention nor some of the other roommates.

That roommate went to fucking AUSTRALIA prior the move-out date so it's already a bad start. I PMed him earlier today. He replied but didn't answer my question, kind of left me throughtless.

How do i reply to this or how do I approach this?

ME: How it do mang. I just talked to Jason. He already sent you the deposit security deposit, the layout of the damages and who was responsible for them. When are you planning on distributing everyone's money

HIM: I didn't know you put down a deposit?
