Noob Text Question: Re engagement and going for the meet up?

Question: When texting a girl in an attempt to set up a date, should you send a re-engagement text and build up the convo to the point where theres a happy feeling or can you just jump right to the point and send a lets hangout text without no lead in?

Here is the scenario that makes me raise that question.

Met this girl at a bar. Got all physical, made out all night. Barely talked. She was DTF but I didn't know how to pull since I'm so new to game, but her interest level at the time was extremely high.

Anyways fast forward next day, we go on day 2. I pushed for "movie my place" but she said she needed to do work and invited me to come study. I went. Solid day 2. Had a blast, flirting all the time. Wasn't really physical during the date, but made out and got real physical at the end to compensate for it.

Day after that I sent her a text to hang out by just getting straight to the point of hanging out. No re engagement messages. She couldn't do it as she was going home for the weekend. Was a legit excuse, as she was in class and her bus was in an hour.

On the weekend, i sent her a text asking something related to what we talked about on the day 2. She responded but i didnt respond. (My friend told me not to respond to convey the idea of me being busy, so i didnt).

Anyways today i shoot her a text saying lets hang and she responds that she's busy but can hang after X day.

Some more background: to this point she has never texted me first.

Can anyone point out some of my mistakes? For the first date, i did lead in texts but in the other attempts i did not.

I think she's still interested as she said when she free after.

And yes i know, get more girls.
