Questions on tactfully raising the question of pay pre-interview
So I work at a law firm right now in LA and want to jump ship. I mainly took the job just to get some experience and am now starting to get interviews for other firms. A lot of times these ads won't contain base pay or the pay based on experience. With one firm I just flat out told them when they called me to tell me what the pay is. They never got back to me. Lol. I don't want to come across as rude since pay seems to always be a touchy subject. I know how to handle it during the interview, but I want people's advice on how I can approach the subject of pay in an email exchange / phone conversation prior to the interview so I know if it's even worth taking a couple hours off work to go.
What I have in mind is this
" Hello X,
While I am very interested in the position I do have to unfortunately bring up the awkward subject of pay. If you could please get back to me at your earliest convenience. "
I'm not really a fan of that though, but I do think I'm in the general direction. Would appreciate the feedback.
I need to stress that this is time sensitive as I gotta get this email sent out by tonight.
The magic word is, "compensation".
If I were you I'd look this up on Google. There are some intricacies at play here it would be worth knowing about.
I'll dig around google and post my findings if I find anything of value. Would be good to have stuff up like this.
Oh gawd, I hope you didn't do this.
I had sent you a PM on rsd telling you not to...
Buddha the guys were asking about your $6k sales letter I told you to take down and turn into a pdf. Still got it?
Yeah, I'll make it a pdf and post it when I get a chance.
