A rape survivor and the man who raped her teamed up to tell their story

I thought it was a beautiful account of two people getting together and reconcilling differences in a very diplomatic way. No guilt tripping or fear mongering involved (based off what they say.)

However, I didn't like how she made it all about her, essentially stole the stage from what was supposed to be the two of them, and threw the blame on him and all men everywhere.

I 100% agree that as a man, you need to take self-responsibility and cultivate a degree of self-awareness to control your ego from allowing you to make those choices that lead both parties down a dark path.

But I don't like blame-shifting, ever. Idc about women dressing slutty or acting promiscuous or getting turnt..thats awesome! It's frankly not my judgement call to say "women should do this and that". Fuck that. Honestly, I dont know to what degree self responsibility is involved on their end either but solely speaking from a man's point of view..I hold myself to a higher standard because that's how I'm able to navigate the world by. Values, morals, character traits etc.

It's what keeps any individual from rising and falling with the tides.

I can only hope other men do the same but I can't force it upon anyone. You never know.

Lastly, I think it was very courageous and honorable of her to reach out to him and not turn him in. More so, for the aussie. Confessing to rape in our current society is a death sentence. Kudos to him.

P.S. Why do I feel like she still has some serious contempt towards him...the eyes and vibe tell it all...

I've read this story before and it seems questionable at best. She's supposedly helpless drunk after a dance, but the moment her clothes come off her mind is perfectly clear and she remembers every detail and counts to 7,200 seconds. But she can't possibly tell him to stop or say a word because she's totally terrified despite being "in love" with this person she's in a relationship with and likes enough to take to a Christmas dance. And there's "blinding pain," which is extremely vague. And the next day she's limping? Was she a virgin before and her hymen broke? I pulled that out of my ass because I'm reaching for an explanation.

So there was 100% nothing she could have possibly done here, and it was 100% his fault. Oh, and now she's got a book coming out and makes money as an activist. Interesting.

This story could be real, but the way they present it makes it hard to take seriously.
