He says in his book that he's read The Game, he dude's also met Neil Strauss. I can't remember his exact evaluation of pick up but he basically said rountine based game is practically useless, and advocated an approach similar to rsd.
Yeah there's an endorsement from Russell on the cover of "rules of the game". I didn't actually hear Russell say the word "open" in that interview I think they're making a big deal out of nothing essentially.
