Is society becoming overly sensitive, are pussies being bred?
Yesterday my school held a full day seminar that tackled the issues of bullying and gave children a chance to speak out. In conclusion, around 15 kids admitted they cut themselves, another 10 or so admitted to attempting suicide, and another 50 or so went up on an open mike and talked about their issues. I was shocked, holy fucking shit what in the fuck is happening with these kids? I can't comprehend if these kids are simply picked on for being a certain way or if they bring it upon themselves.
This whole "bullying is a crime" thing is getting serious. I really don't know if Its a good thing. Should we really be banning certain words? Now it's unacceptable for me to toss around "retard" when I mean it in the most lighthearted way possible? I feel as if bullying/teasing/AMOGING is 99% about tone and projection not exactly about the actual words.
Relating to MW's post about mugging. Shouldn't bullying victims use the hate as motivation to build up a stronger presence, the kind of presence that doesn't express weakness?
No, basically what's happening in the most simplistic way I can describe it is: 1) humanity has always been full of pussies. In fact we are mostly made up of pussies. We call them sheeple. They are the 99%. 2) As society has gotten larger, more centralized, and "safer", they have felt more enabled to come out of their pens. 4) The sheer fact there's MORE of them means that in their empowered state, they will start to dictate more and more.
But this also contributes to the downfall of societies. We're not real competition anymore. We are #46 on the "social mobility" list. Meaning there are 45 other countries living "The American Dream" better than we are. Holy shit. That's crazy. We suck.
The dollar is failing, we are having to invade countries to maintain our grip over natural resources (Middle East), we are militarizing our police.. all to prepare for the inevitable fuck-all that is coming. Rome fell, all empires fell after they became "weak". I've spoken with millionaire acquaintances who say that it is inevitable, most western powers including ours will become defunct. This will happen in our lifetimes.
But hey, who cares.. that won't hold me back. We will always be here, kicking ass and living gloriously, even if it's in the background.

The "American Dream" is non-existant to the average person, it exists in the mind of many people, but only those 1%'s know how to make it a reality. All these kids/adults getting bullied/not reaching success are now complaining that they don't have fair opportunity or are being stopped from reaching their bullshit ego based goals. I heard so many kids use the term "popular", that they wanted to be in the "popular" group. What the fuck is that? There is no god damn "popular" group, if some of these kids stopped thinking about trying to be "popular" they may actually become enjoyable people to be around.

Most Americans ARE already living the "American Dream" by the old standard, they have a roof over their head, food to eat, clothes on their back, etc. I think the idea that every American should live in a McMansion, have a mercedes in the driveway, and an 80inch LCD on their living room wall is fucking ridiculous and it's simply unrealistic. The reality is that there are now too many people on this planet who want to live an American lifestyle, but our planet cannot provide the resources fast enough to make that happen. We're past peak oil, and we've recently past what I call the "peak dollar". The value of our dollar (USD) will continue to decline while the cost of resources will continue to increase. Basically, most people in western nations are probably gonna have to get used to living with less. But if you consider that a good portion of what people spend their money on is just junk that's made in China, then maybe this shift will be a good thing.

I guess it is somewhat insidious. I feel like I've read too much and know too much about what's actually happening in the world.
Although I do support capitalism and the ability to achieve material success, I also recognize that modern day capitalism has a built in flaw of sorts. For capitalism to work, there has to be continuous growth or the system will stagnate and possibly collapse to a lower state. But continuous growth is simply impossible because the resources on our planet are finite, especially our idiotic usage of fossil fuels. The sad thing is, we could have already developed effective alternative energies, green technologies, and alternative ways of creating growth that are in balance with nature, instead of going against nature. All of this could have been done long ago. I'm not trying to sound like a hippie environmentalist queer or anything, but reality dictates that our current system, which is based on fossil fuels and the irresponsible and wasteful use of resources, will either collapse or there will have to be a major shift to a different type of system. I hate sounding like a pessimist, I mean damn, I hope shit works out one way or another. The real disturbing trend though is how our government is slowly crawling its way toward fascism. The NSA spying on everybody, the militarization of metropolitan police forces, the list goes on.
BUT I feel prepared for all this shit. We're living in very interesting times, I say BRING IT ON!

By American Dram I mean living by your own standards, being happy with your job and position economically and socially. Not many people can say that they have "escaped the suffering"
