These injuries will not stop me
Going to go ahead and get back into the gym with the approval of my Physiotherapist. I'm approved for bodyweight exercises.
I will be doing a military based calisthenics workout. Along with a cardio program. I will get my ass back in gear. If I need surgery for my knee, I'll cross that bridge when I get there but for the mean time I will do what I need to do.
Workout is right here: http://navyseal.s5.com/workouts.html
Diet will be Paleo again, with a few different choices due to preference.
Weight: 202lbs
Height: 6 Feet Tall
Bodyfat: 15% (Hasn't been this high in a very long time)
Goals:175-180lbs
Bodyfat: 6-8%
Day 1 - Today
Cool, kill it. Just remember that any and ALL athletes deal with injury. Just a part of the game
I'm going to make sure I destroy it. I'll update once a week as well. This time I won't let anything get in my way, no excuses at all. I might not have pics, unless I can figure out how to upload them from this LG G3, but I will at some point show progress photos either at the end or the middle.
Weight: 198lbs
Bodyfat: 14.6% (Calipers might be off here)
So far down 4 pounds. Could be water but I look leaner. Been upping the cardio/swimming/biking - Bodyweight Workouts are going awesome.
Diet is fucking on point. - Lean meats, veggies, sweet potatoes, oats, tea, black coffee and a shitload of water.
Life is awesome right now.
Feeling less bloated + my face is finally starting to lean out and go back to normal. (was starting to get really round after the accident + lack of exercise + weight gain)
I had a bad injury in my right wrist so i had to take a break of muay thai training, just weeks before an amateur fight. Went to lift some weight today and it seems like my wrist is finally ok. DAMN it feels relieving. I can't afford to train muay thai right now but i'll go in a few weeks. A guy i used to sparr with who has about the same skill level as me just won a national championship title. Next year i'll be the one winner, lol
Such a crappy feeling when you can't do what you love right?
Just gotta bounce back from the set backs.
Do you primarily use weights as strength training for Muay Thai? I do a lot of Calisthenics these days for all my fighting strength training aside from a few specific powerlifts/olympic lifts for that extra explosion.
I'll have an update for this thread at the end of the week.
I used to lift for asthetics and strenght at first but yeah then i started lifting for muay thai conditioning. I think i will lift more for gains now though, unless i have a fight coming up in a few weeks.
I used to do the same, but I'm more interested in function and conditioning these days after sustaining so many injuries over the years. I think the muscle building will be the last thing I do after I reach a high level of muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance and flexibility. I can associate most strength training with the muscle building but I'll be doing that also in the mean time but with more emphasis on the bodyweight stuff.
Do you compete often?
Nah. Do you?
i had one fight against a bigger more experienced guy and dominated totally, and then i trained like hell for another fight, which i couldn't get since i moved to another town for college. Then i trained for another fight and got injured. Yeah, i'm also gonna do alotta rehab exercises or exercises to prevent future injuries.
Before college got goin', all the time. I loved it. Fuckin' miss it. Can't wait to get back at it when these injuries disappear. I'm thinking of competing in the summer time and then just sort of coasting and training hard throughout the year since school is my number one priority + work.
I train and compete more for the love of it these days. I remember as a kid I wanted to be like this champion one day and honestly, some things are just more important to me. Things change I suppose. I still love the sport though.
" I'm thinking of competing in the summer time and then just sort of coasting and training hard throughout the year since school is my number one priority + work. "
Yeah, when i was in high school i really just wanted to train all the time and compete lol. Now in college i got other priorities aswell...
I noticed college does that man. Not that it "gets in the way" but it just changes what matters most for people. I still love training though. You should compete.
Will have an update on Wednesday. Just out of town for a few days because of Reading Break (party time)
im starting to get in shape again. i'll come back stronger than ever
That's the best mindset for these sorts of things, imo.
Weight: 195lbs --- Down 7lbs since Jan 22
Height: 6 Feet Tall
Bodyfat: 14% (Guessing, will measure again in 2 weeks)
Goals: 175-180lbs
Bodyfat Goal: 6-8%
Had a cheat day yesterday so I actually might even be lighter. I feel like absolute shit after the cheat day though. One thing I've noticed, with everything great going on with me lately and all these changes and postives I'm undergoing... My diet is a huge factor in how I feel... I had McDonald's last night for the first time in months and I feel like I got run over by a truck. Gross shit. I might cut out cheat days all together or just have cheat days but with healthy homemade foods of my choice. Definitely going to monitor this, this week. I have a strong feeling that the foods I'm consumming have a huge impact on my mood.
Will update next week.
No one said have McDonald's on a cheat day lol. Go to your favorite restaurant instead or something. Or splurge on a buffet
Hahaha yeah I know, my family was having some so I decided to join them for dinner...
Definitely not making that mistake again. I like that buffet idea though. Not too many around my neck of the woods but I don't mind drivin' out and making a social event out of it. Prob not wise to invite a girl so she can watch me devour all that food hahaha better save it for a guys night
Weight: 194lbs - Down 8lbs since Jan 22
Height: 6 Feet Tall
Bodyfat: 13%
Goals: 175-180lbs
Bodyfat Goal: 6-8%
Slacked off a bit/ate at maintenance for the past while adjusting to my new workout and because of midterms but I'm glad I didn't put any weight back on. Back in the gym and training my ass off harder than ever. Not really about looking good anymore as much as being a lean, mean fighting machine. Functionality, Endurance, Strength and Explosiveness is what I'm after and my workout is tailored to it.
Trying to get Forces ready here.
Will update next week and maybe I'll include lifts and progress in terms of exercises as well.
Yo I like the motivation here but what workouts are you doing exactly? I think I only looked at the warm ups on the seal website.
You are in a position to get really swole here
My weight training program:
A) Squats, Bench Press, Military Press, Chin-Ups, Planks
B) Squats, Deadlift, Barbell Row, Chin-Ups, Planks
Alternate letters Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Then my bodyweight stuff is:
Push-Ups, Sit-Ups, Pull-Ups, Dips, Leg Raises
Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday
Cardio program is somethint I'm trying to integrate, can't find a solid program so basically I've just been trying to jog for 20 mins post calisthenics workout.
Also currently cutting, before bulking
