Took me WAY too long... But I finally finished, "7 Habits of Highly Effective People"
Wed, 08/22/2012 - 17:38
Holy Shit.
This book is a game changer, folks.
Very Powerful Stuff.
Reccommend it 10/10.
Anyone have any stories they'd like to share as to how it has tangibly impacted their life? I just finished it but I'm sure in a couple months, I'll have some to share. I plan on implementing the habits from this book into my daily life. I don't take this kind of shit lightly. When I say I'm going to fucking do something, I do it. This shit is the kind of stuff that literally CHANGES your life.... how could I NOT do it?

@Vince:
I just recently realized how grateful I should be for the ability to read. Like the majority of the world can't do it and the fact that I CAN and that I can do it WELL... Let's just say, when I realized this, I decided to get on the fucking ball.
Either way- audio or text, it's gonna impact the way you see the world.

Effective People"
It's in my top 3 books of all time. Sorry for not mentioning early. Derp
RIP Steve Covey
Tyler and I had a conversation about this book a few years ago was cool. It came up when we discussed castrating pit bull testicles on the way to Vegas. Funny how stuff works out...

Good look. I was trying to remember the name of that one. Any recommendations for books that I should get on audio instead? I've got a lot going on on my kindle right now and switching it up a bit might be a good idea. Currently I am in the midst of Tolle's Power of Now, Essential NLP, and now the book you mentioned by Covey. Not to mention La Ruina's The Natural and other such jewels.
I have a long commute to work so any recommendations would be awesome.

This is on the read list. I think I might read pillars of self esteem first.. Or whatever it's called.
Now I'm reading the 50th law by Robert Greene and fiddy. Just started but so far it's pretty cool. Reenforcing stuff I learned from other books/rsd/hard knock life but framing it in a different way. So just like stuff I already know but coming at it from a different angle with different applications.
My number one is the fountainhead. Read it when I was 18 and getting into politics and economics. Changed my life. Helped get me out of social conditioning. Rarely a week goes by when I don't think of roark and Peter. Tolle is up there but has yet to stand the test of time to enter my top 3.

Fountainhead over Atlas Shrugged?
It took me months to read the latter...it's an absolute behemoth of a book but had some really key lessons in it. What do you prefer, that is if you've read them both?

IMO fountainhead is better. Both good.
While I disagree with a lot of rand philosophies she is dead on about economics.

Yeah, that's cool.
You guys gotta read, "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind"... lol, makes Tolle look like a struggling special educatino student.

Hahah k I'll give that book a look. The only other eastern type book I've read Other than tolle is zen and the art of motorcycle matinence. Was good. I was shocked when I found out you big into meditation and haven't read tolle but then you said in that other thread you learned at a zen centre.. Any other learning sources? Books? I'll check out that zen mind book.

What philosophies?
Ayn Rand is written in an idealist fashion. Or at least a fluke of a good time ;)
There are plenty of Roark types that never made it, and he definitely needed to be more flexible, but the black and white issues going on are guiding rules to live by. It's an awe-inspiring book and paints the ego in the correct light.

@Manwhore:
Ayn Rand was half way there. She didn't think it all the way through, though. Actually, the fact that she was hopped up on emphetamines her whole life, contributed to her being unable to see the aspect of life that she was missing.
Anyone guess what she's missing?
It's something called, "Reflection"... She would be very, VERY scared of tolle.
But yeah, really good book. I thought that the passage where the two main characters fuck for the first time was such an AMAZING expression of what sex should be between a man and a woman.

Ehh. This is one of those hipster things where people who have no business judging someone else's art, goes ahead and does it anyways. She was a kick ass bish who had some amazing things to say and I am so glad she did. 60 years later her books are still among the most influential in the world.
