What do you guys think of A$ap Rocky?

You posted my favourite song of his, so I wanted to bust in here hating but can't now. Definitely liked a few tracks from that album but I think he is overrated budget stripper/thot basic bitch music. Haven't seen him in any interviews or know much about the man behind the name but that is just it, from hearing it a lot of it comes of as listenable but overall kind of superficial. Does he even write/produce his stuff? Maybe Im just a hater cause that LSD song is pretty sexy, as is a few more of his songs. 

He came around when "edm" was at its peak and trap music was big then too. And I love dance music and trap too but a couple years ago they reached peak saturated commercial pop bullshit. Bleh. He is a grade above that but not by much imo. 

Fashion Killa

I am interested in him and have watched some interviews etc. Has a good vibe to em.

Yup I absolutely agree. A total figment of the fashion industry's imagination. Doesn't write his own lyrics, doesn't produce any of it. He does sing though that's for sure. 

But I've been listening to this L$D song on repeat since last night. I cannot get enough of it. Anyone know anything about song writing? 

Rocky is a great rapper not lyricist you have to distinguish the two. If we're talking technical skill then he is incredibly talented, nothing too crazy like a Kendrick but definitley a cut above what other artists are doing. 

LSD is great because it has a more artistic quality to it as well as the part where he's rapping, shows versatility. 

MW I know you listen for substance, as a writer I'm equally impressed when someone is performing the art at a high level even if the message is absent. 

I have a feeling you guys will disagree with me on this. My favourite part of this song is the interlude where he actually starts rapping (excuse me mr. Bill collector I got problems) he's fitting words and syllables not only to the rhythm of the song but also using his cadence to add an extra layer of depth. He might not have written this but the way he performs it is just as important.

I mean.. he's essentially running pua routine game on dudes. He didn't write that. It's good though even if a bit shallow and cliche. 

Ha! That is hilarious he is prompt up by the fashion industry, I've seen him on TV and the intertoobs a few times but was under a rock when it comes to his fashion brand or his icon. Yeah Nik, he isn't a bad rapper thats for sure but I wouldn't call him an artist either. Just lacks that extra OOMPH that "good" music has. 

Anyone got that viral video that was going around on Facebook making fun of rap lyrics for not making any sense anymore? Shows a tall thin black rapper looking fashion fleek with his little mini dreds rapping words 'n shit that made no sense whatsoever with some good production pieces to make it all work? I actually think it might be Asap Rocky 

lmao! I think you are talking about Hopsin? Ayy, come on now A$AP is still a level above 2 chains, future and whatever else the latest rap the music industry is shitting out. Hopsin is good shit though, very talented.
