There are times you have to let a "creative exploration" take you off your chosen path, or your constructed/successful path. This can last maybe a couple days, or maybe a month. Maybe work slammed you with a project.. or school threw so many exames at you you had to bury your head in the ground for a couple weeks and ignore all else..

.. how do YOU get back on your path afterwards? How do you get back to that completely sterile path.. devoid of all distraction. Do you even realize it's there? Are you just a monkey? Lol

I personally just never lose

I personally just never lose sight of it because I tend to have single-minded focus on whatever goal is my priority. It's the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing I think about before I go to bed. I never try to do TONS of things to an amazing level at the same time. In my experience, it's extremely hard to reach a very high level in multiple skill-sets at the same time. It's much more realistic to build up one skill set while maintaining the others. Then, eventually put that skill set on maintenance mode for a while and go hard on something else. Brad talks about this phenomenon here:

As far as getting back into things goes, I think it's just having good habits setup from before you took a break so that the willpower required to get back into the swing of things is lower. That, and just forcing yourself to use your willpower every single day to do things you don't want to do. It's the same muscle regardless of the task: http://www.rsdnation.com/node/83961

I use my emotions to work for

I use my emotions to work for me, not against me. Guilt and pain remind me and put in perspective that I will be worse off if I do not KEEP pushing. I feel guilty if I go out too often now and don't focus on shit I need to get done. At the moment that is law school apps, emailing professors for letters of recommendation, applying for a new job so I can move out of my mom's place again. I think back to the pain I feel whenever I've failed or felt a low point in my life. It is pretty easy to re-live those emotions and so that helps hold my feet to the fire, so to speak. All the low points of my life help me push forward. Even now, I was dicking around this last week since I finished this exam. But I'm back as of this last Saturday. Applied to 15-20 spots, emailed my professors to get LORs lined up, and paid for all my shit for LSAC. [ Governing body that handles law apps ] Got two interviews this Monday. Prior to saturday and after oct 5th i hadn't done shit. I literally felt I deserved to just do NOTHING.

Cool. What are some of the pregame rituals you guys do to put yourself back on track? Even little things, like clearing/cleaning your desk, etc., are a big deal. And I think that's where guys need the most help with

Honestly MW, when you got me into Tolle audio's, that helped a ton. Before listening to them I would procrastinate and kill a lot of time playing video games, watching tv and going on youtube. I would also get anxious thinking about something that I had to deal with and I would sometimes avoid it. Listening to tolle puts me into a state of clear focusness and then taking action becomes much more natural.

What also helps is writing down a couple things that I have to do the next day before going to sleep. If I was to guess, simply writing something down increases the liklihood of me doing it by around 300%.

My pregame ritual is always the same:

-Sit around browsing the web/watching TV/playing GTA V until it's around 10 PM

-Clean my room

-Turn on spotify on my phone, sit the phone in the windowsill right outside my shower, and play music while I'm showering

-Get dressed

-Go out

I generally don't have to think "ok, this is what I'm going to work on tonight" because I think about that stuff all day long anyways.

Clean room a bit. Eat some

Clean room a bit. Eat some food to mentally prepare myself since I don't want to take a break midway through. Like I said I use visualization to relive those moments I felt the most pain in. Turn my phone on airplane mode so as to not be distracted.

I hit the gym and workout

I hit the gym and workout that mental clutter. Than go remind myself with what I want, visualize it than meditate and listen to tolle. Sets me right back onto the path.
