gawd i love hip hop. this is
gawd i love hip hop. this is what i try to explain to the naysayers who tell me how crass and awful the genre is...nah, i just find a primal instinct behind it all; the NEED to succeed and be the best which is emphasised in every song. it's so shameless that i just love it; just listen to Clique, and specifically kanye's part...his verse just hits me hard for some reason, and this is something i can't find in any other genre because hip hop is so flexible these days that it incorporates EVERYTHING and EVERYONE.

You gotta wonder if the rapping about suffering is a form of catharsis for the rappers. Ken Wilber says: "when we talk about our demons + we objectify them. We rob them of their power". So perhaps actually rapping about their problems, actually helps them and comes off congruent. Most of the best raps songs have a level of angst about them. The rappers with the most life trauma seem to be the best. Eminem, 50 cent, Dre etc. 

Not sure I agree about the suffering being beutiful aspect BG. Pain is apart of life and you will experience pain no matter what. Suffering however is optional.

Suffering is Pain + Resistance. 

Just let go.
