Has anyone here read the book, "Grain Brain"?
i know there's a lot of people who aren't bought into the idea that low carb actually does anything.
I can't say it does or doesn't but this book written by a super respected neurology expert explains how carbs, sugar and processed grains literallly have the same effect on our brains as many recreational drugs and are manufactured to be just as addicting.
Yeah I've read it! Agree with it when it comes to corn, soy, gluten, and wheat based products. I still couldn't imagine ridding them of my diet when I go out to eat or drinking on weekends. I just keep it balanced. A whole food diet and potatoes and rice instead of bread and shit. Then one meal of enjoyment with friends whenever I get the chance.
Are the last 8 posts not navigable?
Cliff notes, Buddha?

Buddha, you've been on it for 2-3 months by now? Do you feel/measure any difference in terms of testosterone level?

dude for me, I notice a difference in everything. People are going to think I'm exaggerating but I'm not.
Definitly notice a difference testosterone which I think is a biproduct of the mental clarity I have.
I think that he two biggest biggest factors for me that influence my testosterone that I've noticed are my diet and sleep habits.

The cliff notes are that grains are linked to tons of different diseases and have a huge impact on brain function.
Beain function is actually like super connected to the gut. Like autism is actually first and foremost s disease in the gut which then manifests itself in the brain.
and 100% of people have difficulty processing grain - it isn't natural for us to digest it and as a result it causes some sort of leaky gut shit that impacts how our brains function.
theres some crazy shit liken before grains were introduced to certain areas in Africa, schizophrenia had like a 1 in 200 chance but once grains were introduced it went up to like 1 in 100
The whole thing about eating grains was just a big marketing job by food companies who paid to have studies done to show that grains were healthy for people when the reality is that none of those studies can be repeated. It's the same thing that the tobacco companies did when they tried convincing people that cigs were healthy.

that's pretty cool, I'm kinda the opposite. I don't even feel if I get injured lol
I've been tweaking my diet for years but only based on what I read mostly. There was never really a part when I felt now I'm better and it's probably bc of this and that. Well, I'm coming from a pretty healthy, fit background so there wasn't a big change I believe. When I was eating things like bread and pizza I was way younger as well, so my body was most likely more efficient in dealing with crap. Anyways, I don't want to eat them to test how I would react now haha
Anyways, besides fruits or 'carb heavier' veggies I eat potatoes and oatmeal (soaked and cooked- so it's less of a grain lol) on training days. and mostly because of testosterone. There are some papers out there that show that a too low carb diet is lowering testosterone.
ut great if you feel better, not sure what was your starting point or previous diet tho. Like how people feel amazing after switching to a raw food diet or whatnot from drinking coke and eating donuts. So the difference is intense, even thou they're missing out on think imo. Having said that, I do think that the keto diet is very powerful, and probably the only one with proven medical healing for certain issues. I'm just too into fruits and a bit concerned about testosterone. I might do a 1-2 months cycle soon thou, I just need to find someone who can look after things as it's easy to fuck up so I've heard.
Yeah, sleep is definitely important, it's something even I can notice :) And for testosterone also what MW said about vitamins is actually fucking on point it was something like " The best one is the control over your life"
